Time to load "cold tune"?

I think this comes up just about every year. This will be my first year to have to worry about this at all. I'm not making enough boost to worry about swapping pulleys, but I should probably consider loading the cold tune at some point.

What's the consensus?

When i bought my truck it already had a chip installed...not sure what the tune is on it. It was a package the guy bought from C&L with the MAF, filter, and chip.

as long as the timing is not over 18,19 degrees i would think you should be fine, maybe some one else will chime in

I have a dynojet wideband and noticed a big difference this morning. If you have a cold tune load it.

Terry recommended to me awhile back that I should probably change to the tune where we had the 3.5" upper on when it cooled off. That vs the current one tuned for the 3.25.

And that's what I'm going to do... and just not change the pulley. I'm not making that much boost as it is.

Use common sense and I usually change around 65 degrees or when pulling high speeds.

I talked to Terry, it's been less than 65 the past week, ran the cold tune..I really dont notice anything but different shift points?

My cold tune is only a change in timing, I believe. I will probably load it shortly. I haven't been hammering on it lately anyway.

Yup, the wideband showed lean in the mid range, but the same at WOT.

I loaded my cold tune yesterday. When I was on my way back from school the wide band was reading about 10.8 It could have been lower at points not really sure I was sick so all I was worried about was getting home. Is that about normal for weather 10.8?

10.8 is real rich, i would think the colder weather would lean it out not richen it up

you can, 10.8 not going to blow it up or anything just not optimal for hp numbers

No, normal in any weather is always 14.7 under part throttle
WOT should be 11.7ish depending on your tuner.

10.8 was when I was well off into it. I usually run 11.3 in warm weather when I am well off in it. Now when I am just sitting there or just driving normal it runs 14.7 to 14.9.

That is strange that it would run richer in cold weather, but it is fine and safe.

I can lean it up if you want me to. I usually leave the fuel the same as the warm tune and take 2 degrees of timing off the top. So that makes it a little richer inhernetly.
