I payed off my 99 "L" this morning.
The refunds from all the worth-less crap I bought when I bought the truck, came in. That left me with a balance of 8,3xx.xx. I pulled it out of my savings, payed off the truck, and that left me with 3,100.00.... Mod's right.... Wrong. Ironically, that is the same amount of my taxes, due soon.

wow i'm only 22 could never pay cash up front unless i won a small loto or something. But i guess being 22 and owning one of the best trucks in the world i don't mind paying that much per month.

LOL....That should be just about the same time they bury you. Car payments are like taxes. The only folks who don't pay them....are not making any money.
There will be moments in our lives when we are payment free...but eventually...the bug to buy will bite, and another five years of payments won't seem so bad.

I know the feeling, I just paid my last payment on the stang on October 12. First new car I ever purchased and first one paid off.
The L still has 2.5 years on it.

You don't seem old to me  .
nor you to me brother:D .. but I would have never ever been able to afford my truck at the age of some of these youngsters.. I had $800 hand me down cars back then.. owned well over 30 cars in the intervening years.. but when they get to be our age, they may be paying cash up front too.. I was able to do it because I sold two other vehicles and could afford the difference. I do have a car payment on the wifes car but got it at 0.9% so I didnt want to spill the cash..

On topic, Congrats on paying it off.
Off topic, I have owned very few cars.
I still have the first, third, and fourth vehicles I ever purchased(not counting boats and motorcycles), at 34 years, 18 years, and 6 years old respectively, but it is time for some turn over.
Sometimes wish I still had the low tech second one, 74 Chevy stepside that was as fast as the L and sounded better.
That truck was a magnet at the country bars, a phase for some in the 80s.;)

Yeah, congrats to all paid in full vehicles. I paid mine off ,then re-financed it to do a consolidation of my credit cards I used to restore the Vette. Got a lower interest rate & monthly payments continued without taking away from other money. Man, there is some young kids on here, where are the old heads? 40 and over? Although I'm much closer to 50 than 40. Where's the baby boomers(born before 1965) I guess with these trucks getting older & older, they cost less and younger people can buy them now. Man, times have changed. Mark, wasn't disco cool? I bet you had a John Travolta suit..:tu:
