Anyone heard of this deal? They have it for 399 tonight only and they only have 15 per store. Is this worth the price.

yes its worth 399

for a basic laptop its a deal

its heavy and has limited expansion due to no pcmcia slot but under 4 bills for a new laptop is a good deal

they are probably all gone

The problem with cheap laptops is they SKIMP ON THE DISPLAY. If you spend any amount of time per day looking at a computer screen, a crumby display with give you a headache real fast.

I'm on a Compaq AMD 1.8G, 512MB, 60GB drive, DVD R/RW - Dbl. layer drive this evening. It's a V5108CU. I bought it for a good bit more at Comp-USA - off special for the parents earlier in the year.

It's been very serviceable and its durable for travel with no issues, currently.

Personally, no issues with the display quality. Very clear and no refresh flicker!

I'd post a close-up pic of Zane at 1280 x 800 with very nice detail, quality, etc., but I figure I'd get my hand slapped.

WalMart has released a new November sales approach on their electronics. They have dumped prices and created a buying frenzy. Their October sales were too low so they did this to boost Nov and holiday sales. It was on the news yesterday.

Yep, the theories of economies of scale and buying in bulk pervade.

I am thinking that this is more of a "we better hit our sales targets before the quarterly and year end sales figures come out to the Wall Street boys" kind of action on their part.. the last thing Walmart wants is to disappoint Wall Street and see the price of their stock plummet.

Well Kim stood in line and was able to get one but it's still in the box right now. I haven't had time to mess with it. I plan on watching my fantasy football team from it today while I watch tv so I'll let you know what I think of it later. Not a bad deal for what all I'll ever use it for IMO.

Man...why do you want to cause disappointment the first time you use it? hate to think of you watching your team lose on your brand new computer....
