He was an original bad mother! He made it to 87 though! His character in City Slickers was priceless!

One of the coolest "bad" guys ever. I still remember his bad-guy role in Oklahoma Crude with Faye Dunaway and George C. Scott. I knew he had been around a while, but didn't know he was 87.

My brother and I had to sneak into that movie. I don't remember the rating they gave it back then, but it was rated beyond what a 12 year old was suppose to watch...:evil.

Yep, that was him! knana Sad to see another of the old-school actors who have lived a very full life pass on.
While accepting his Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for City Slickers (1991) at the 64th Annual Academy Awards (1992) he stumbled through a half-hearted acceptance speech and then, at a loss for anything else to say, flopped down on the floor and began doing a series of one-handed push-ups. Afterwards when he was asked about the stunt he simply said, "I didn't know what the hell else to do". :rll: He was 6' 4" and 73 years-old at the time. :eek2:

A year later when he provided the voice of Rothbart in the The Swan Princess (1994), his character is featured doing one-handed push-ups.
A couple of interestings facts about him:
Birth name: Vladimir Palaniuk / Walter Jack Palance in Lattimer, Pennsylvania - 1919.
In the late 1930s, he started a professional boxing career. Fighting under the name Jack Brazzo, Palance reportedly compiled a record of 15 consecutive victories with 12 knockouts before losing a decision to the future heavyweight contender Joe Baksi.
With the outbreak of World War II, Jack Palance's boxing career ended and his military career began. Wounded in combat, he received the purple heart, good conduct medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war he began his long and famous motion picture career.
Once fell asleep in his square during a taping of The Hollywood Squares (1966). How many remember watching that show as a kid? I do. :)
Spoke six languages: Ukrainian, Russian, Italian, Spanish, French and English.
He was an avid painter and poet, too.

One of his most famous lines ever was from City Slickers when he looked at Billy Crystal and told him - "I Crap Bigger Than you"
