I dont use my Xbox 360 that often - When I connected it recently it wanted an update for Xbox live -Referred to as the FAll Update - to allow video downloads and other stuff - I did the update and since then all the games are locking up. The cases of this problem are ALL over the internet, thousands of people reporting it - MS claims its less than 1% of users...

Microsoft has offered to fix the console if I ship it to them and pay them $140.

Uhh Not going to happen ... They can kiss my ass - I have 2 unopened games Ill return to best buy and sell the 360 .....

ive never hooked my 360 or my g1 xbox for that matter to the internet for this very reason, if a regular pc can get a virus, that whats to stop someone from doing it to the game consoles?

My 360 runs fine after the update... Gears of War is badass.... And online play is the only way to go tiff.

The main update feature added the 1080p support. I wonder if that has something to do with it?

It added all kinds of stuff including an attempt to lock out modders and the updates to enable video content

Doesn't THAT make the case for Microsoft products being classed as "virii"?? :evil

Well I broke down and sent the damn thing in but not until I sent in a BBB complaint .. Within 24 hours MS rep called me and offered to reduce the fix fee by 25%

They turned the repair around in like 2 hours at 10 am I got an email they received it at noon I got an email saying it was shipped back

Well see how well it works in a few days when it gets back

Still BS.....they should fix it for free. It's their issue, I just don't see how a consumer should have to pay them to fix their own problems.

I hope to nail them with it eventually but realized that in order to be able to use the $$ I had invested I had to get it fixed

It feels good to finally get what is right

They didnt admit they screwed up BUT the effect is the same ....

Any guesses on how long it will take to get the Repair $ and the Warranty $ back ??

can you say, "class-action lawsuit"?? I knew you could!!

I'm sure they smelled it coming, and decided it would be easier to do the right thing.
