I would hold off on doing any mods. Rethink what your getting into here. It's going to take you down. Stop now while it's still fun. In the end you will realize that you could have put a kid through college for the amount of money you will end up spending.

I agree with this stranger, if you have any signs of OCD, don't do it. Trust us.

If your going to mod dont nickle and dime it, i did, and it now has my truck sitting in the garage waiting on Whipple to repair my blower and having to buy new heads and gaskets and valve springs, and other parts :hammer:

save up and just get a Kenne Bell, you will be much happier, and buy new, not used, I've learned my lesson

Isaac, I have been running a 6# with the sct x-cal 2 and not had a prob for almost 40K miles now. Just use common sense when it gets cold out and make sure you change your tune when necessary. Otherwise you will end up like the guy that Terry just posted about.

Yep, I started with my Bullitt simply doing a K&N filter. $10,000 later in mods and it is still not done. I also pissed away several grand on bolt-ons before going with the real deal.

When we first bought the L Stacy wanted me to start modding it. I told her no way, I've learned my lesson. Don't start what you can't afford to finish.

Don't start what you can't afford to finish.

I think the key is knowing "when" to call it quits; when to be "finished."

My old '90 Mustang I probably built and rebuilt different engine/trans combos 3-4x.

Nothing wrong with doing a tune and pulley. I had that on my '99 L for 3 of the 4 years I owned it, and never once had a single issue. I've gotten a little more radical with my '04, but only recently.

If you're going to go all out later on, just do it so you spend the $$ once, and be done with it. My only other comment is that there _is_ a limit to keeping the truck streetable and enjoyable to drive. Once you cross that threshold, it needs to become a race-only vehicle. That's fine, but just be aware that the line is there (thousands of $$ out there, but it is). I don't know exactly where it is for these trucks (probably low-11s), and I don't intend to find out. :)
