How 'bout dem COWBOYS??? Damned nice game on this day of thanks. Romo played exceptionally well; the offensive line was actually decent; Barber had a helluva day; and T.O. actually made a very classy move!!

The road to the Super Bowl goes through Chicago baby! I hope Dallas makes it that far so what happened to them in 85 can happen again...:D

Uh... no. The Bears offense is all smoke 'n mirrors. Better hope Griese is the QB by the time the playoffs come around. The Bears could easily be 8-3. Call me rather unimpressed. The '85 Bears (or any of the 3 Cowboys SB champion teams in the '90s) would beat this Bears team by 3 TDs.

Bears vs Patriots this weekend. It could be a good game and will definately tell a little more about the Bears. Following that, they have the Vikings and the Rams.
Could be a tough three weeks for them.
We'll see.
I didn't watch the Cowboys game, but Tex, it's hard to imagine the words T.O. and ... I can't say it.

Simple: he caught a touchdown pass, celebrated mildly (yes, MILDLY), then trotted over the the Salvation Army pot and respectfully dropped the ball into it. :tu:
My respect for him went up some because of that. Not much, because he still has "alligator arms" in tight situations, but some.

speaking of the 92,93, and 95 World Champions, here is one of my prized possessions, Kevin Gogan was and still is a client of my dads, he got the entire 1992 super bowl champ team, all players and coaches, to sign the ball on the plane back from Passadena after winning in 92, complete with the dynamic trio of Aikman, Smith and Irvin, also has Moose Johnson, Nate Newton and so on..........

We'll see. They rather handily took care of the Seahawks and Giants, and will be up to the task tomorrow against the Patriots. The defense is stingy, the special teams are awesome, and they finally have an offense...any offense with the D and special teams the Bears have makes them tough to beat. The teams of the past are just that...the past. I have to question whether any team in 06 can take these Bears. They have flaws, but the weapons are too much...

Don't get me wrong. I think they have a very solid team. I just think in today's NFL there aren't really any dominant teams. Too much parity, if you ask me. Even the Patriots string of good teams... in any past decade they would be solid playoff teams, but not dominant.
I do think the Bears have as good of a shot at winning the SB as anyone. The defense is exceptional. You're right about the special teams as well. The return game is #1 in the league. The offense... it reminds me a little bit of the Ravens a few years ago. Grossman just doesn't impress me, but all they have to do is score 17-20 points and they'll win every game.

Tom, I am with Wes on this one. The Bears offense is going to make the defense play 40 or more minutes against another team with a decent defense. Hence, a matchup with the Cowboys is going to let the 'Boys have too many opportunities to score, and frankly Grossman gets scared when he has pressure put on him. There is no one dominant team this year, even with Indy's and Chicago's record. The closest thing to it, IMHO, is San Diego with LT. He is just too hard to stop, but SD tends to stop itself at times, hence the losses that they have now.

wow, that Bears/Pats game was a good one, Seau broke his arm but GOOD (me and elder son were cringing in sympathy, last time we saw a break like that, his younger brother snapped his left arm in a soccer game), Grossman got hurt and STUPIDLY they let him keep playing, and that ended up being their downfall.
Speaking of SB-bound teams: whaat gives with the Saints?? Drew Brees the best QB in the NFL so far? Granted, they were playing the QB-less Falcons, but still! Saints keep this up, tho, and they'll be in the thick of things.

I have no faith in the Saints whatsoever. Sean Payton should be coaching the Cowboys, though. He's done a super job this year.
I will be shocked if Griese doesn't replace Grossman within the next couple of games. I don't know who the Bears play, but they will not win the SB with Grossman as the QB. The Pats are a really good team... maybe as good as any in the NFL, but the Bears "D" gets 5 takeaways and the offense can only score 13 points. That is a joke.

Question is, if Grossman hadn't gotten hurt (didn't see what happened, just the aftermath with him trying to throw passes on the sideline), could they have pulled this one out? I don't know if Grossman's been having problems, or if he's been battling an injury.
I think you're right, tho: Griese should be playing now, at least 'til Grossman's better.

It'll be interesting to see how this all turns out. It's hard to imagine any team that is 7-3 or 8-2 feeling they need to change quarterbacks, but I just read that Cutler will start for Denver next week after a mediocre performance (and two consecutive losses) that were division rivalries.
If the Bears were going to put Griese in, the next two games will be a better test of his ability than the last three games IMO.
It would be fun to start speculating who the division champions would be, but the way a single injury can drastically change the performance of a team it's hard to say even now.
I'm not much of a Dallas fan (an anti-fan if anything), but right now they are looking really solid. Losing Ellis isn't going to help them, but they still are looking really good compared to most other NFC teams.

Breaking news:
VANDERJAGGOFF GETS CUT!!!
'bout damn time, I say. Problem is, they went and signed Gramatica instead of just using someone they already have (Swisham) that can kick decently. Sometimes I think Tuna's absolute hate of kickers really messes his judgement up in these areas.
