I just heard this .... thought I would share, and see what you guys thought.

It's been a long time since I have built a engine, and I ran across this today.

Torquing down heads with fel-pro 1141 LH and RH gaskets.
(And if these are the wrong gaskets.....please don't say anything.... I just bought them).

Install studs. (ARP)
Normally place Dry gaskets on DRY clean block, install DRY clean heads. Install washers and nuts. Torque nuts down in 3 stages to minimum torque limit. (Example If your torque range in 95 to 100 fp. final torque stage should be 95fp with studs) Using the proper torquing pattern.

After both heads are finished, let it set for 24 hours. Again using the proper torque pattern. Loosen one nut at a time and re-torque it to the minimum torque setting. (no stages, just torque it down in one shot).
Again.... Loosen and re-tighten ONE nut at a time in the proper pattern.

If I left out any steps..... Sorry, I'm still asleep.

I've never done loosening thing before. Has any one ever done this?

Charlie

Did you post on NLOC as well? IF Terry's into the Crown tonite, he won't answer. It kinda looks like everyone's watching football right now.
