Well I got my first deer of the season. It is an 8 point. I am already getting everything setup to make a ton of jerky. I actually used my rifle with the new stock i put on not to long ago to take him. He ran about 40 yrds and dropped.
This was the rifle i used.

I think they should only count one side of the rack. He could have grown into a good deer:rolleyes: .

Good job, Weston! Congrats. :tu: Here's my Thanksgiving-Day 9-ptr from '04: http://www.talonclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7099&highlight=thanksgiving+day+buck

Have that "itch" yet to go get a serious wall-hanger for next year? knana I could've hunted this year, but I wasn't in the mood.

Also, to be specific, and I've been corrected on this before, your buck is a 4x4 - not a 8-ptr., technically Just like my 9-ptr is a 5x4 buck, fyi. My brother's 11-ptr. is a 5x6.

Just wait until you let bucks like that pass-on-by as you are just watching them from your stand and wait for the bigger bucks.:bows

Being your first hunt and your first deer, congratulations.

As for the experienced hunters, I'll ask the same question I always do. How do you stand to eat those antlers?

I love the thumbhole stock. It really is more comfortable to shoot and is very steady when on a bipod. I got it from boydsgunstocks.com

Did you Whack em @ the feeder

He was heading that way but I didn't let him get that far.:)
