I was planning on picking up a Remington 870 Express at WallyWorld for $238 when I saw a Charles Daly semiauto for $289. Does anyone know anything about this gun? I know that it will not compare to a $2K shotgun, but how does it compare to the 870? Whichever one I buy will get a lot of rounds through it.

I have the 870 express 12 ga and never had a problem. Had the gun for over 3 years now and still working great and IMHO it's a great gun for the price. Now a semi auto for that price I would not trust.

How does the Remington 870 Express at Walmart vary from any other Remington 870 Express?

Same question about the Stainless Ruger 10-22 they used to sell
It was a great price - but you do have to be careful - walmart has the power to get vendors to build a Walmart special model that will be cheaper - Hopefully the vendor has the integrity to use a new model number

It doesn't. Same gun. I had an 870 Express that I bought at Wal-Mart. Probably put 10k shells through it before I sold it and never had any problems. No personal experience with a Charles Daly.

Isn't he the guy that smokes & drinks too much and plays golf? I don't think I would buy that gun. Probably would end up shooting yourself in the foot.

i know that they claim to sell weatherby rifles which i love, but there particular brand is called weatherby vangard(cheaper built) which doesnt even compare too a true weatherby rifle

Its a Charles Jammer!I got a bud that has one and spent more time cursing @ it than shooting it.Try a Rem. 1187,its a bit more but worth it.:tu:

Bought my 870 Express at Wal-Mart about 7 years ago and still shoots like new. I actually went out and shot it on Sunday with no trouble.

But not 870 Expresses. We use 870P's (Police) which have some different parts in them to make them a bit more robust and reliable (read cop proof). Also, south of the mason-Dixon they're known as squad cars, not cruisers. :nono:

Ditto!!!
Before you buy a Charles Daily, cycle the action by hand --- it feels like there is a 50 pound bag of sand poured into the action. Before you buy a new Charles Daily, buy a used Remington 1100 if you must have an auto.

Here's my $0.02 on the Remington 870; I have an 870SP "Special Purpose" 12 Ga. It has a boat load of rounds through it and has never ever ever missed a beat. The action cycles better than when it was new, and it was good then.
I bought it at Outdoor World, so I might have paid a bit too much, but I know I got a high qualilty firearm.

A Winchester 1300 Defender was my favorite pump shotgun. I had a Mossberg 500 but it was rough compared to the 1300. I hunted with an Ithica model 37 featherlite since I was 12 it was the greatest shotgun I ever hunted with. When I started hunting with the gentlemen I switched to the over under club with the Browning Citori. Of course it is super old school and has fixed chokes.. For urban warfare I prefer the pre-ban HK M1S90.
