you are right on this one today.. Romo was taken out of his game, or he didnt bring it..
I am very concerned about the defense.. not sure they can really stop anyone, they havent the last 3 weeks.

Your right Dana. The DB's need to learn to cover better. Roy Williams sucks as a cover back. The LB's got burned on several times on the Blitz. If TO spent as much time learning to NOT drop passes and get pushed out of bounds as he does running his mouth he might be a factor. His whinning is starting to sound like Randy Moss. In my opinion a large part of this loss goes to the Tuna. Three f@cking running plays up the middle from the 2 and can't score...give me a break. Ever heard of "play action" You have one of the tallest, strongest WR's in the league. Throw the damn thing up and let him fight for it. What's the worst that can happen? I know a pick to go along with the other two. 200 yards of total offense...what a joke.

Statistically, this wasn't a bad play. I can't remember the exact numbers they put up while that was going on, but Barber was like 50% on TDs vs carries in that range. Again, I can't remember the exact number but it was like 10 TDs on 20 carries or very close. The percentages were there. It just didn't pay off.

Statistics are not worth a crap if the play won't work. Barber has been good up the middle inside the red zone, but 3 plays worth with the last one being a pitch!

It's easy to say that having hindsight. If he had thrown the ball and T.O. dropped it on 3rd down, there would be a lot of people who would have grumbled that Barber (given his record) didn't get a third opportunity.
To me it seemed they never even really hinted at throwing. To do so would have spread out the line a bit more and given Barber more of a chance. They were really packed in there on all three downs from what I remember.

Yeah, Roy Williams needs to get his act together. Noticed something, too: that Aaron Glen is slow--that pick he made shouldv'e gone for a TD, and instead he was caught and tackled. :nono:
Totally Overrated might have an excuse, having a torn tendon in his hand, but Madden was right: he shouldve stayed away from the sidelines and keep working to get clear, like with his TD. He SHOULD be working inside slants, with his size and strength, but his hands aren't near that of Michael Irvin, especially with an injury you're sure to get whacked every time he goes up against someone.
Madden and you are also right in that they should've used play-action instead of trying to break thru a stacked line. Our offensive-smelling line isn't that good, don't try to punch a hole unless you spread the rest of the defense out with receivers.
Defensively, we're missing Ellis: he helped shorten the time the enemy QB had the ball, which made the LBs and safeties more effective. Now, we're paying for the weaknesses.
However, anyone notice that we didn't hear much about Terrence Newman?? Tells me that he was doing his job very quietly, and that Garcia was keeping the ball away from him.
right now, my take on The New Jersey Con Man is that he's mailing it in again. He just can't seem to get *into* the games like he needs to, and his indifference reflects onto the team, who play like they're not even on the field mentally. :hammer: Time for a young and hungry coach who's into building a winner.

So true, Tom. I thought the egg-laying was supposed to be held off til Easter.
Definitely one of the worst performances in the history of football ... given the sheer talent on the Cowboys team. Just pitiful.
Either Parcells or TO will be gone next year... maybe both.

Hindsight has nothing to do with it. They lined up in the same basic formation three plays in a row. Everyone and their dog knew what play they were going to run...three times in a row. If a dumbass like me knew that then the defensive cord for the Eagles knew it too. The point I'm trying to make is.....Try it differently. Play action, FB up the middle. Roll out to the TE. The Tuna is too predictable. He has been doing that all year. Anything to change up the defense. Romo is a pretty good runner. On third down roll out and run it in or flip it to a TE.....anything but the same play..again and then again. Hey I'm not an expert on the game but the Eagles knew that Barber (SP) was 50% inside the 10 (TD's to touches). Mix it up, let Romo improvise a little. Just my .2

I hear what you are saying and I appreciate your comments.
The fact that they lined up the same way every time really doesn't mean a whole lot. Offenses use the same formations on many many plays so that the defenses have a much harder time guessing which play will be run. They could easily have done play action fake from that formation or a QB sneak, a toss, an end around, but they chose to go with Barber up the middle. There's no way the defense could know what play was coming. All they could do was intelligently guess and adapt, which they did very well.
If we go back in time to the games just prior to the Cowboys/Eagles game, those teams also would have known that Barber had a 50% TD/Carry ratio, but the Cowboys gave Barber the ball anyway and he still scored half the time. I didn't say that very well, but basically even though teams have known that Barber will get the ball, he still manages to score. It's not that different than what Pittsburgh did with Bettis last year. It's what the Giants are doing with Brandon Jacobs this year. Regardless of how predictable it is, players still get the job done.
If Barber had gotten the touchdown on the third attempt, the play would have been conceived as brilliant because no one would have expected that Parcells would have actually used it a third consecutive time and the defenses should have been keyed on one of the options we both mentioned. Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, none of that happened, but I don't blame Parcells. If he was so predictable, the Cowboys wouldn't be in the playoffs. Or maybe you are just saying he is predictable in the goal line situations. I'm not really sure.

I would agree that Barber has been good inside the 10 on most defenses but the Eagles have a better than average run defense. If I remember they held the Cowboys to 130 or so rushing yards (total) the lasttime they played and a good part of that was Bledso. I just think that Bill didn't game plan very well. Everyone knows that he is a run oriented guy and he lives and dies by the run. I didn't see him change his game plan on Monday when the run wasn't working. I think that there are some defenses that you can't wear out with constant running and the eagles are one of them. They are hot right now and I think anytime they play TO and the Cowboys they are going to be ready. I just don't think that the Cowboys planned for that. A lot of the NFL wrote off the Eagles when McNabb went down. I'm not sure that the Cowboys didn't write them off too. The job Barber has been doing inside the 10 has gotten the job done up to this game. But you gotta change your game plan to keep the defense on their toes. Didn't see that on Monday.
