President Gerald Ford passed away.

A lot of you younger guys dont remember Watergate, mainly because you werent born. It was one of the most difficult periods in American history. He was the only president not elected to the office but rather had been appointed to the Vice Presidency due to the resignation of Spiro Agnew under a cloud of suspicion of tax evasion. There were two attempts on his life during his tenure as president. His pardon of President Nixon surely cost him an election campaign to Jimmy Carter. However, looking back, his act towards Nixon clearly allowed the nation to move forward rather than have it focused on the prosecution of Nixon that would have taken years.

He was a good and honorable man.

He had one other interesting role in history. He was part of the commission that reviewed the assination of President Kennedy.

+1. I always thought he was a better President than he got credit for being.

A good man who did what he had to do to move the country forward after Viet Nam & the Nixon debacle. Unfortunately, he was not appreciated for what he did and we got Jimmy Carter as a result. :(

He was the best athlete president in recent history
He tackled future first hiesman trophy winner in College
yet he was seen by the press as a clumsy guy...

I always liked him ... He seemed genuine ...
We need more like him
