2007 Monthly meeting discussion

Here we go again.:rolleyes:

It's always divided between people that insist that it be centrally located and those who want to spread it around.

We decided on the central location last year but there was a ton of support for having South Arlington (SA) and a North Dallas (ND) locations as well. Afterall this is where a large number of the members are.

I propose a compromise of the two. Have 3 locations that we alternate between, SA, Central, and the ND. This way everybody is happy.
Or possibly even 4 ways: Central, SA, Central, ND,... Central, SA... this way half the time is in a central location for the die hards.

Something to think about: Our largest monthly meetings used to be in 2003 & 2004 when we alternated the meeting locations.

The idea that a central location all the time is fair for everybody just makes it unfair for everybody all the time. I'll go to the ND location just as often as I will go to the Central location. Both are so far away from Mansfield that another 15min of driving makes no real difference. I happen to like Bone Daddy's too, if that happens to be one of the locations. It would be nice to be able to go to a meeting in the SA area every so often so that I don't have to plan a major trip.

I actually like the central location, the Bonedaddys location at 6pm is a beating and a half (much like a S Arlington location would be for those up N). Which way do you go that it's only 15 mins further than the central locations??? At that hour I've found it's at least 30 mins no matter where I leave from in the Dallas area(coming from Dallas, which is rare, I usually come from S Arlington, the B-Daddys location is about 1.5 hrs from there at 5-6 pm).

If we alternate, I'd guess that the folks local to that area will frequent those mettings, and not attend the ones that are further from their location. In essence it will segregate the club meetings a bit. If folks want to have local gatherings, nothing is stopping them, it just doesn't seem like it should be on the scheduled monthly meeting nights.

I don't think that the low turn-out has much to do with the location. I have my own thoughts on that, but I'm wrong a lot. :tongue: If that really could be an issue, maybe we could do 6 or 8 meetings at Humperdinks and spread the rest out just to see if the turnout is higher at the other places.

Personally, I agree with Wes. I think it would cause segregation. I probably wouldn't drive all the way from Allen to Arlington on a weekday night during rush hour(s) for a meet. I probably would go to Bonedaddy's because it's close.

Just to muddy the waters a bit, theres a new Winghouse place going in on restaurant row across from Papasitos where Tony Romas used to be. It will provide the eye candy that most seem to like about BoneDaddys in the central location.

I need to shut my trap since I am not there anymore, all I can say is that when I was there, the turnouts were pretty big and I dont recall going anywhere hardly but BoneDaddy's.. but didnt we try that other place at the end of the BoneDaddy's parking lot.. I will say this, I'll never forget when Rocks got that beer can chicken.. :rll: he wasnt too happy with that one..

anyway, I still have fond memories of those good ole days.. heck, even Lawrence would show up and Wayne.. Oh, I do remember the one meeting over on 35 at some place next to the strip joint..

I called some friends that work a paint shop....gave me a number of one of their friends (that works with painting rims,reparing etc?) and he did it for $180 with the lip, plus told me if they ever **** it to go back to him :tu:

my friend just brought me one to tease me lol...they look badass...I think they did the machined lip? where they cut it or whatever..looks pretty badass

Get name tags made (plastic nice ones with the Talon logo) wear them at club meetings with your SCREEN name/REAL name.

Well the name tag idea might have been a good one...but everyone that showed up was the same old crowd, except for Casey.

I will carry the tags around in the truck and we can choose the events that we use them. Good to see everyone again.

It's cool, traffic really sucked today, 4 wrecks on 75s, 635w, 35s and loop 12, took me over an hour and I followed a squad car, hanging back a little, down 35s from about Royal and on to loop 12 in the break down lane for the last ~1.5 miles.
