I have the rearend off my 93L aside for rebuild. I bought a used Eaton LS and still need to buy installation kit & gears. The problem I am having is, shops don't like to and most of the time won't install used parts. So, what do I do? Is there anyone that knows how to measure pinion depth, back lash, etc.?

Terry, do you also do Mustangs? What would be the total cost on a stang for parts, labor, and everything. I already have gears, but i'm trying to talk my bro into them.

yup
Good lord...
I didn't realize it was that high to get the rear set up. I won't even try with someone else since this is a supporting vendors price...
So, it's...
$500 Eaton posi
$200 Gears
$300 Setup
Total=$1000 :eek:

Rear end work is a specialty not many folks can do it without noise issues. There are a lot higher prices out there.

That's about right. I managed to find a guy at Bob Tomes who would do my TrueTrac out the back door for $100, and he did a good job, but no telling if he'll do it again.
And, dude, don't do the Eaton posi, if you're gonna spend that much, put it into the TrueTrac. You'll thank me later for it. :tu:
