The power steering pump is leaking like sieve and squeling like a pig on the beater- a 99 Pontiac Grand Am with 154K on the ticker.
Looks like I need to replace it- any tips or tricks to those in the know??

I have replaced a few GM PS pumps
Go to the car wash first and degrease it.
No real tricks it is just one of those messy jobs.
Make sure you put the correct amount of fluid in the new one, start very briefly, and recheck level.

Some of those transverse engines are real tight against the fender to pull the pulley off. You usually have to pull the pulley to get the bolts behind it.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure I'll make it to the car wash. It was just a slow leak annonance thing till yesterday. Now its pouring out and making a mess of the driveway:nono:. I guess I'll hit it with some degreaser and hose it off before I start.
It kills me to keep throwing money at this POS but it gets the youngens' to and from school without having to put miles on the L. Still cheaper than a car pymt.
