I just wanted to say hey. I just got back a couple of days ago from picking up my new ride from PA. I'll try to use the search button but sorry if I have some newb questions im coming from a firehawk to a truck. Plus iv never had a power adder. At least now im all ford I have since I also have a bronco. Anywho thats the background. Im in Longview about 2 hours away from dallas. Oh duh its a black 99. Bone stock to paper filter. But I hope to see the fedex man soon. Alright well now im rambling.
P.S. Its going to the body shop soon an old lady bumped into me in Tenn on the way home after only having it for 24 hours... First question is does anyone in dallas restore wheels? One got scuffed up and some curb rash so I want to send the set off and get the powder coated while im at it. Thanks!

Sweet if it has PA plates its me. Stop by the autozone on 80 sometime and say hey. I work there. If the lightning isnt there the bronco is. Plus I could use some advice on the truck it started acting up today. I went to pass a car and it like bogged down and started cutting out. it idles just fine. It has all new coil packs so I doubt thats it. Any ideas? (im not off to a great start yet...)
Who all else is in longview? I always see a sonic blue one, every once and awhile a red one, and a true blue one.
THanks everyone too. How do I become a supporting member? Do i get a fancy sticker?

To become a member just click on the Join/Support button on the top right corner. As far as the other L's in LV, I have seen a couple but I have not met any of the owners yet. And about your truck, when it bogs down does your boost drop off? It may be belt slip, clogged fuel filter...? Some of the others may chime in. I have a extra Talon sticker if your interested.

Some of the 99's have been known to have a fuel hose come loose from the fuel pumps-usually when this happens truck will die or not start.
I would change the fuel filter first, and then check plugs.
You probably know this but you should only run 93 octane or better.

I checked the plugs they look fine and the coils are all new but i bought a new one and moved it around and nothing. I changed the fuel filter this morning and same. Iv been putting 93 octane in it so thats no prob. The guy I bought it from has another lightning and he told me about that hose coming loose on his before and a buddies. So my next step is to yank the bed off since I filled up yesterday morning I dont feel like dropping the tank. Is there some sort of fix to the hose problem?

replace the hose in the tank with this stuff and you should never have another problem with it again

+1 to Tifton's post. That is the chiz-expensive but good.
You don't have to remove the entire bed either.
Drop the bumper
unplug the license plate lights
unplug taillight electrical connector
undo the large rubber hose that attaches to the fuel filler neck
remove rubber vent hose from diff to bed
get a buddy-pick it up and slide it back 2'
Then you can get to the top of the tank between the cab and bed that is now moved back 2'

If your going into it that far. You might want to think about replacing the plastic Y with a stainless one..... I think Terry sells them.

Yep and if your going to do that you probaly should just replace the fuel pumps with 255 Walbro's. It will give you piece of mind and you'll have that out of the equation if you decide to mod heavily in the future.

Is that the right part number for what i need (hose that is) Because thats what i ordered from o o o oriellys. About this Y I saw it in some picks on nloc where can I get one? Hardware store? If terry has it how do i get hooked up with him. I kinda need it on tues because im taking the day off and getting into all this. By the pics iv seen that shoudl be plenty of hose right? Also I figured id put new strainers on are they the same off of a regular 5.4? I cant find them for a s/c when i look them up at work but a regular i can find. Im assuming they are the same. Sorry for all the questions. THanks!

Well it was the hose. I replaced it with the stuff tiff suggested. I broke the plastic Y. No one in town had one so I ended up using a T. It seems to be working fine but where can I find a metal Y?
