:D The boat money was for the Gen 1 I have not justified this purchase but I will get back to you.

The sale of 2 KB 2.3 and 2 JLP sheetmetal plenums may have done it

The truck is running very good we need to do some Data Logging but it was a little chilly this evening.

The Whipple is still the same displacement as the KB at 2.3 liters. It is mainly a looks swap. The KB 2.6 is the bad daddy I have seen them run 10's on 14psi street tunes with 1.77 60's. Show me a 10 second Whipple at 14psi:rolleyes: .

Looking at this thread makes me want one..... yea, that sounds good. Get me a black whipple and a custom made upper cog pulley.

Terry will have something to do in a year!

Terry, what do think about a 2.6 at 14psi on a stock block?

I look forward to some track time to see what we can do with the truck. I wrestled with the KB 2.6 or Whipple and I made the choice.

No doubt several trucks are running really strong W/ the 2.6 but some guys are going 10's on an Whipple or 2.3 and a few Eatons. Like anything I think a culmination of efforts helps achieve success

Everyone running 10's with KB and WHipple 2.3 are running over 18psi and 18-20 degrees of timing.
The 2.6 is a violent beast I think it would tear a stock block to pieces. The 2.6 is large and explosive. When I was tuning on Wes truck which has drag radials and traction bars. Even roll ons under 60mph were met with explosive tire spin. The 2.6 hits so hard when you tip in it, it is scary even for an experienced driver. The 2.3 stuff just pulls hard and sounds good, it is not violent and scary.

I don't understand how a 13% increase in displacement on the blower would be so different, but that is just my opinion and physics?

I need to do some research on the volume of air at various RPMs for the 2.3 versus the 2.6.

If the data doesn't scare me, I'll put a 2.6 on the stock motor and see what happens.;)
Remember when a 4lb lower pulley was death for a stock motor?

You know how a KB builds boost as RPM's increase, with the new inlet and rotor profile of the 2.6 it is there instantly and in copius amounts. The entire rear section of the blower is open to the rotors unlike the Eaton and KB2.3 which are top fed and shrouded by case.

I can say from personal experience this man speaks the truth :D

I've obviously had both the 2.3 and the 2.6. I can say that my butt dyno feels that the truck is faster and makes more power now at 14-15psi than it did with the 2.3L and a 60 shot at 18psi.

YMMV

I am a fan of the a$$-0-meter. I believe it is more accurate than a G-Tech for sure and depending on how it is calibrated can be downright reliable when determining acceleration and other physics type stuff. :burnout:

Indeed.....it's been calibrated within .0000001 of actual :D

Track data....:burnout:

Went 11.1's with 1.5 60' on 2.3L KB 18psi and a 60 shot at L-Fest
Went 10.8's with 1.7 60' on 2.6L KB 14-15 psi, no nitrous

I think we can all agree that conditions at TFC were not ideal.

I'll be finishing up a few fuel mods and getting it tuned soon, we'll see what it ends up making power wise.

I'm not here to argue Whipple vs KB. I chose KB for my reasons just as John chose Whipple for his. They are both bada$$ blowers and will make insane power and run good times. I don't think anyone chosing any of these blowers is making a bad decision, whether that's the KB 2.3, 2.6 or the Whipple.

No denying the Vs. times from L fest to TFC but as stated the assometer is usually correct.

Wes's truck is going to go way fast W/ the right setup and good track conditions.

If I even sniff low 11's high 10's I will be happy and never mod my truck again:tex

For Mark#2
The 2.6 takes air all the way from the back to the front of the rotors and then it dumps down through a plate to the intake. The 2.3 dump out the bottom of the case 3/4 way down the rotors via the triangle opening. Make sense?
