My brakes are squeelin horribly... Truck is an 04 w/ 21k miles, gee thanks ford. I took the pads off and cleaned them up (had crap all between the groove). They stopped making noise for one day, then back to the squeelin. The pads have plenty of meat? left on them so theyre not the problem. Maybe just need to turn/resurface the rotors?? Where the best place to get this done?? Price also?? Ive been thinking of getting all new rotors and pads too... The squeelin has to go :flaming: . HELP

Squeal is commonly linked to getting the pads too hot. I would try a set of slotted rotors from any vendor. They tend to keep the pad cut and cleaner. SOmeone said rotor pros sell a full set of 4 rotors for only 199 on eBay. Hawk, EBC, and others make pads designed for hotter temps.

I ordered all my Hotchkis and EBC parts off of http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/start?r=store&

I've been happy with their EBC rotors, green pads and Hotchkis coils/sways.

Big improvement over stock braking and handling.

Ronald

I took the L in to Ford for an oil change the other day and once again they told me that my brakes were worn out (Less than 3mm). So I decided to go ahead and change them as I already had pads. Of course when I pulled the pads I noticed that they had tons of wear left, nowhere near 3mm. Glad I didn't pay the stealership to do it.

I used to carry them when I knew the local distributor. He quit carrying them and the internet folks beat the prices down. So I tell folks to get the 200 set from eBay and bring them in.

I had Terry do my work and got the pads and rotors from him.. I was the first one in the club to get the EBC's.. many others followed suit thereafter.. they have saved my bacon many a time and beat the heck out of stock..

Get Terry to do your brakes. He did mine although mine wasn't wore out I wanted bigger brakes with slotted/crossed drilled rotors for my 20" wheels. The factory brakes lost stopping power with bigger wheels.Your pads may just be glazed over from getting hot. Go EBC from Terry if Baer or Brembo is too much $$$$.

I had the calipers binding and wore out the inner pads on both sides, this may sound funny but I went to Just Brakes on Camp Bowie and they did a good job, I even hid in another parking lot to see if anyone would hot rod it and they didn't. They were done in about two hours and pads are lifetime of course you have to pay $49 for another set but everything else is included. I only went there because they did my wifes car about two years ago and have had no problems.

Preciate the location reference, but I took Ronald's advice and bought EBC rotors and pads from AJUSA for 5 and some change. I think Ill put them on myself. I just need to get a rubber mallot.

from the F250 parts bin, iirc
Did you inhale too much of that dust on Saturday? The brake system is a 7700 GVWR system exclusive to the Expedition and NASCAR/Lightning F150's. All are 5 lug systems. A F250 rotor/caliper is much larger and 7 or 8 lug depending on the year and GVWR.

Ahhhhh, nothing that a 7 to 5 or 8 to 5 wheel adapter couldnt take care of!!

I guess I did, because damn near everything I read said just that. MAybe it was just the calipers, or maybe there's a 5-lug F250 setup out there, I dunno. I did say "iirc" to indicate "if I remember correctly".
