The short story is that Jimmy and his ex-wife owned the shop I work out of. They were ordered by the courts to sell the shop to settle their divorce. It had been for sale for a while and other deals fell through. We thought she would take a cash buy out after a few low offers, no such luck. She just wanted to put us out of business reguardless of profit. Well, they signed a contract today and told me to be out ASAP. So my last scheduled job out of there is Monday the 5th.

I wish I had my shop built by now it would have been a smooth transition. I am at a crossroads now and have some tough decisions ahead. Jimmy is looking into other properties and shops. In the mean time I am looking for a day job to survive.

For the last three and a half years I have given my all to stay in business and support TALON. It has shaped and changed the person I am today. Some for the worse some for the better;) . I have worked about every day and hour I could for the last few years. Anyone that stops by or calls knows I am at the shop 6-7 days a week. This gig is the hardest thing I have ever done and I loved it. Even after all of these things I am still not tired of working on trucks. It is a passion that runs deep and never seems to run dry. I don't know what to do with myself if I can't go to the shop. It was the closest thing to a house I had. It is where I washed my truck, kept my ATV and tools etc.

Hey man, Steph might have something for a day gig to get you by if you want to work for the man again for a little while until you find something else .

BTW- I was at that spot where Jeff mentioned to you and it's a pretty nice setup....you should look into it.

IMHO an alliance with an existing shop similar to the one you had with Jimmy would be mutually beneficial.

A performance shop owner would be happy to have someone who brings in a whole new genre of clientèle. You have a long list of happy dedicated customers who would utilize your services. I think it is a unique bargaining tool.

No more alliances for me. I looked at other shops and they are already over crowded with their work. All shops have an immature element about them I don't like. HPP still has that white red striped L in the back yard, lol. RPM is only a 3-4 bay shop and are full with LS1 work.

Does Tony know anyone that might help you out? I know that he knows people, if for nothing else other than a temp tech job.

Even though I knew that it was comming, I am still sorry to hear that the sale went through. Divorce is a bitter pill indeed, especially when friends and assosiates get pulled into it.
You are very talented and I am sure that you will end up on your feet.
If there is anything that I can do, do not hesitate to ask.

I forgot I had so many stock parts. I threw stuff away until about 9pm last night. I had two diesel fuel tanks and skid plates, two diesel exhaust systems, 4 sets of front L springs, 4 sets of rods and pistons, 5 fan clutches, 3 sets of sway bars, and on and on. The junk man is gonna be real happy.

Nope, the scrap man came by three times today to empty the bin. I spent the day loading and cleaning up. I had a ton of **** I had forgotten about. I even had two sets of Z06 manifolds back when those were the slick 15hp mod to have.

He told me he could build me a 60X40 for about 10k.

would those fit on an LS2?

hey, have you talked to the guys across the street at stan's? they might have a spot for you. they're a little short handed, i think, and you'll have plenty of room to park Ls.

I thought about it. It probably costs me more than a dollar a mile to haul the trailer and tools around. Even then I would always be missing something I needed.

Do you think we could setup a on the side job a your place of choice in the next few weeks Terry, to install my KB, gauges, sbtb, and re-tune? Do you still have the A/F gauges and a BA2400? That's all I need as far as parts. Thanks man  .

Terry,

I'm sure you can do as Damon has - he's a fellow Okie though! :D. He currently owns my old '00 L (w/NOS) and is doing business like crazy - spoke with him today.

9,000 sq. ft. facility with 12 bays, 4 full-time techs under him - all ASE cert.

He's at (918) 291-2790. Oh, he's into quads/4-wheelers, too.

Hope it helps.

Ronald

Building Businesses: Featured Client
Pro-Matic Auto Repair, Inc.
By the time he was ten years old, Damon
Sutterfield knew he wanted to be a mechanic. Every
Christmas and birthday he would ask his parents for
tools and socket sets. At age fifteen, he sketched
the layout of what would become his auto repair
shop when he grew up. After high school, Damon
enrolled at Okmulgee Tech to begin training to be a
mechanic. After graduation, he worked for another
fifteen years in the service departments of local
automobile dealers, ending with a seven year stint
at Doenges Brothers Ford.
In 2001, Damon and his wife, Stephanie, came to
me with the idea of establishing their own business.
Stephanie, who had worked as a service advisor at
Doenges Brothers, planned to work the
administrative end of the business while Damon did
the service work. We discussed the various options
available to them, collaborated with a financial
professional concerning tax implications, and in
August of 2001, Pro-Matic Auto Repair opened its
doors. In 2004, gross annual receipts exceeded
$600,000.00.
Pro-Matic now owns a 9,000 square-foot building
with 12 bays located at 142 West 140th Street,
Glenpool, Oklahoma. Including Damon, it now has
four full-time technicians. It is one of only 20
independent automotive repair shops in Oklahoma
to be AAA approved. All of its technicians are ASE
(Automotive Service Excellence) certified by the
National Institute for Automotive Service
Excellence. Three of its technicians hold a master
certification, which is the highest level granted by
the National Institute for Automotive Service
Excellence. Pro-Matic subscribes to the ASE
certified technicians Code of Ethics and belongs to
the local Better Business Bureau. Its motto “Fix it
Right the First Time” appears on its website,
www.promaticauto.com.
Damon and Stephanie believe people need a
mechanic they can trust. This principle, along with
their “Fix it Right the First Time” goal, is the
cornerstone of their business philosophy.
They applied that same philosophy to their need
for legal services and sought an attorney who they
could trust. I am proud to have Pro-Matic Auto
Repair, and Damon and Stephanie Sutterfield as
clients, and know their success will continue in the
future.

Terry, really sorry to hear that, I hope you can find a place that you are OK with soon. At least you know that you have the clientale up front!:D
Don't know if this will help, but just thought i'd throw it out there, some guys have opened a speed shop by my house in Desoto, off of Parkerville Road and 35. I havn't been over there, but it might be worth looking into since they have the space. If you want, i'll stop by there one afternoon and inquire.

Keep your head up and keep us informed. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask!
