I guess I need to grease my coupler more often. I trashed my 2&5/16" ball this last week moving. I felt it start sticking up and here it is. Missing chunks etc.. I will check the coupler for any damages. It looks like lube is very important on heavy loads. I am replacing this ball with a stronger better ball from TSC.

Wow......I always greased my ball. Problem is that it sucks when you bump it with your leg walking around the back of the truck. Puts a big grease stain on your pants.

Not a bad idea. That would cover the ball, but I usually end up with grease all over the stinger after a long trip. It's a mess. I have even tried using just a little bit of grease, but it still manages to get all over the darned place. After seeing the picture of Terry's ball, I realize now it is a necessary evil.

You can see the grease around the ball, there is still a good coating under the ball where it latches. I'm getting a black ball this time they a lot tougher.

I drove up to the TSC in Wylie after work Friday. I got my big black super ball! 25,000lbs rated it has to be some better steel than the 10K balls. I did get some grease on my new kakhi Colubia shorts yesterday...

I noticed a lot of folks in the apt complex walking close to my WD hitch. So I went to Wal Mart and bought a foam ball and hollwed it out to cover up. Hopefully it will save somebody some pain. I like to have the rear impact protection and I haul a lot so I hate to take it out of the receiver..
