View Full Version : Vac is at 14 in Park... WTF

Just installed my phantom guauge, I read that vac is supposed to be from 22-17 in park, mine sits at 14. There isnt a leak at the T... Guess I should check the back of the gauge to see. I hand tightened the compression nut only to hand tight (but pretty damn tight). Is this right?? I think I might be retarded... H E L P.

Where is the gauge when the engine is off? Usually they are off one way or the other. If it runs fine I wouldn't worry about it.

When its off its at 0 (maybe -1). At 85 its at -8ish. On decel its at -16. Normal driving is 11-12ish. In park or N its still at -14!! Boost jumps to 7or8 then goes quickly to 10, right at 5000 it goes 11... 12... 13... shift.

Ill try to get a vid of it... along w/ the HIDs!!

I would put a small wrench on it and give it maybe an 1/8th to a 1/4 turn beyond hand tight.
Is it a plastic or brass compression fitting?

Brass...

I know of one other spot I need to check for a leak... something about a custom boost actuator fitting (Terry!!). I have the new actuator, just need to install it. Im workin on the uploading the vid right now.

Brass needs about a 1/4 turn over hand tight, make sure the poly line is fully pressed in before tightening.

Yep... no vac being leaked by them!!
