Mobil 1 is good. I used Royal Purple when I put my FTVB in. I don't think either choice is bad. Did mine in the garage, on jack stands......messy or I'm just a slob. Not sure which.:d

Yep, did it in a garage on jack stands today... made a mess too. But it sure shifts like hell!! Excellent mod.

No FTVB here, but I've been running RP recommended fluids in the engine and transmission on prescribed intervals with good results.

You can use the Mobile 1 but IMO it's a waste. The factory transmission fluid is a good fluid.

If you chose synthetic make sure you do a complete flush all 17-19 quarts worth. You don't want to have half of one fluid and half of another in there. 17-19 quarts of synthetic starts to get very expensive at $6 each, I would just got get the factory fluid from the dealer for $2 per quart.

Now we need to retune it for the valve body:hammer:.

That is the user setting, I have about ten in that that one that is why it shifts so hard.

+1
I heard Ford is no longer making the MERCON III that is spec'd for our trucks. They are recommending MERCON V in a TSB for all Ford trans

I'm going to see if the local dealer still has a case or two sitting on the shelf.
