View Full Version : Tire Question
I know alot of guys up north put winter tires on their trucks, being that I heard that the F1's aren't very good in the snow. But since we live in the south, and this will be my first winter with my L, I was just wondering what to expect this winter.(I know we don't get snow here but we do get sleet.)

I never changed my tires during the winter. Seemed to be just fine running F1's all year.
But, now that I live in Philly, and am looking at a winter storm warning (Oh joy!!!) I am thinking M+S 's will look pretty good for the winter.
Enjoy!

I've used the same tires all year long. No real need to invest the extra money for an extra set of wheels and tires down here.
Hey James! Glad to hear you're there and safe! All settled?

Hey Tom!
Not quite. Finally got my DSL working tonight (and even with the wireless router!). Wahoo! Not unpacked hardly at all.
The new job is GREAT! Not real happy about the weather tho! :d

F1's aree probably the closest to a M&S tire tread. Otherewise you would have to go to a 17" wheel or such to get more choices in truck rated tires. It is onnly icy 3 days a year down here so leave it in the garage that week:tu:
But is it really true the F1's are that bad on icy roads, I know what tire isn't bad, but I dont want to have to be driving 5mph on ice.

Take the $800 you'd spend on snow tires and buy a daily driver POS. 450 ft./pds. of torque (stock) in a RWD vehicle is not going to work if they weather is icy, unless you want to run chains on your F1's. Like the others have stated, you shouldn't have much of a problem here in this part of Texas.
