I have a friend at work who called me the other day before I left the office. Her old 165K mile F150 just cut off in traffic on her way home. I went to help her and the fuel pump wasn't running. I checked the intertia switch and relay and they were ok, so I told her the pump went out. We pushed it to a parking lot and I gave her a ride home. Her hubby had it towed to a shop and the fuel pump is ok but the shop said it's something in the ignition/column and too complicated for them (said to take it to dealer). They did get it to start but it is intermittent so they can't trust driving it (she drives R/T 50+ miles a day to work). She is saving to take it to the dealer (they have some $$ issues) and I thought I'd ask you fellas if anyone knows a good Ford mechanic in Dallas who might go a little easier on them than the dealer. She lives in Pleasant Grove and works in Richardson so somewhere between would be nice. Any ideas or referrals to a good shop would be appreciated. Very sweet lady so I'd love to help her out! Mike

If it has the PATS key it might be the receiver or something it that system. Does the theft light flash crazy?

No, didn't seem to flash the theft light. I'll be sure to ask her to check with the mechanic to see if that is what they told her. She couldn't remember the terminology, "something about the ignition thingie". She's like my wife, only cares what color the car is, nothing else is of interest!
