I found a common box turtle at the dunes but did not photograph him. I did take a pic of this thing though. I call it a tortise? It had a thick tail and was very fast it was not shy like a turtle.

If were on the turtle subject saw this beast the other day going to the farm. Went to pick it up and he charged me. Jake stood on one side so I could sneak up behind and kick him off the road. This just a snapper? It's tail was a good 5 or 6 in.

Aligator snapping turtle. That's a small one, but large ones can take take a finger smooth off. They typically have a bad attitude and hiss when they get mad.
Terry's little turtle is some kind of water turtle (flat tail for maneuvering); definitely not a box turtle.

Thanks to our resident biologist for clearing that up. I still chuckle when I think about the turtle/Taurus post.

The boys across the street came home from the creek a few days ago with one, very small but very fast. Very rare they say to see one around this neck of the woods.
