Missing soldier found dead....What do you guys think?

For some reason, I get the feeling there is something terribly wrong here. I just can't see a soldier not being found on his own turf. It just doesn't make sense. Just trying to see what you guys think..

You'd think they would have some plan set in place for a situation like this. Maybe a tracking device in his backpack? cellphone? or something....

To me if there was foul play involved we wouldnt have known about it yet, thats something that would be covered up im sure. But we will see what the autopsy report says if they release the info

How long did he go missing? Aren't soldiers taught survival skills? He should have been able to survive out there weeks if needbe. I'm calling foul play on this one...

Things like this hits us veterans hard. I personally spent 3 years stationed there at Ft Hood from '89-'92 in 1st Cavalry Division. Its not the first time a GI has gotten lost on training missions. We got big time warnings about getting lost at NTC in the Mojave Desert near Death Valley where it happens more because of the terrain. Its hard trying to navigate by land elevation,rivers/creeks,etc...when I was in the NCO academy I had to back track because I missed navigation point, I wasn't lost like this because its in a controlled area, but when you're not its easy to get lost. Not only that ,Ft Hood is the largest US base in the world about 350sq miles and a lot of the terrain is really rough. GI's get basic survival skills but only the Rangers,Special Forces,SEALS get the real survival training like eating bugs & plants. Its been 15 years since I got out so it may have changed but only commanders had GPS back in the late 80's early 90's before it became available to general public. Individual troops didn't have there own,plus this training may have been to train to use the land not a machine to navigate.
