Went there today had run over some screws, they said the tires were not servicable (yes the tread was kinds low) they said they were beyond their limits. So a new set is going to run about 350.00....... Funny thing when I bought them they said they had unlimited road hazzard and if they were slick that they would still replace them. I wanted to choke the little bastard behind the counter. So have any of yall had this problem??

other than them trying to avoid a legal situation...no. they are the best.
i once had a truck that had wheel adapters on it and they wouldn't rotate the tires because of them. on another visit i had a tire i put a plug into to get me by and they wouldn't patch it for me. they have some kind of phobia about stuff like that. if it isn't black and white they avoid it.

Take it to another store. Some times that works best.

I have purchased most of my tires there for the past 10 years.
Agree, they are very conservative about fixing tires.
They have fixed two of mine that were >1 inch away from the side wall but refused two at <1/2 inch, but think they are correct in their policy.

Thats OK because last time that did my tires the scuffed the paint on my rims (wheel weights) and I didn't say anything if they do it this time they'll be buying two new lightning rims.....two can play this game.

Discount is my first and only choice for about 10 years also, tried NTW but went back to Discount. Discount replaced one of my tires on road hazard when I had a flat in Mississippi, brought the tire back, they measured the tread depth and prorated the cost...I think I paid $107 for a $202 tire...
That was at S.Cooper store in Arlington, I go to Mansfield store now(also).

If you pay the extra and get the free replacement road hazard warranty they always give you full replacement cost with no prorating.
Once the tread is down to the wear bar they will not warranty the tire anymore. I've had a little trouble the last time because the wear was uneven and I was just down to the wear bar in the middle but still had plenty on the sides. I argued with them that the average tread was still within the useful life of the tire but they insisted that they are supposed to go by the lowest point. In my case it worked out because I made a deal with them that I would buy three new ones if they did a replacment on the one.

Thats what happened the wear limits in the middle were below the 2/32's I did have the free replacement, only did a liitle good. Seems like they wear alot quicker in the middle maybe a little less tire presurre will help them wear more evenly...?

I run about 26-28 psi in mine to keep the tread wear even.

I don't know what I had except road hazard...I didn't know there was a difference. Seems if there was a "free" replacement with no prorating people would wear them down then do something to them like using a 2x4 with nails or some other way to make them no longer useful them and get a new set. I only hear about you prorate what you use....wear down 1/2 way, pay 1/2 price....

You are right, It does sometimes get abused. I have a neighbor that hasn't paid for a set of tires in 10 years because of this. But he's a roofer so some of his are legimate. You do have to pay to buy the warranty for the new tire so it's not completely free.

I will never be back to discount tire after the store in Hurst at 820 and Pipeline tried to pull a fast one on me. The salesman lied to me about the tires being on the shelf and while I was waiting on a bay to open up for my truck, he secretly sent someone waaaaaaaay across town to get them. After I'd been sitting there for over and hour and watched three bays open up while my truck sat untouched, I called him on it. when he confessed that he didn't actually have the tires, I told him to get bent. :flaming:

That was my only complaint about DT also, I called them on it and they said, "Well what am I supposed to do...I have to get the weight off?!"
I let it go.
Then I went and needed 4 new tires for the wifes car....they prorated the one with the most tread and gave us new tires for a damn good deal if you ask me.
Go to the DT on Davis @ Precient Line RD. Ask for Chris!

When they scratched my rim they let the impact socket spin on the rim and it scratched it good. My wheels were dirty and I was careless and in a hurry. Didn't see it until later that day.

Does anyone know what DT store Brandt works at now? He used to be our contact for Talon when he was at the GSW/I20 store. He always treated us good:tu:

It sounds like your tire served its useful life. Even the road hazard only covers a tire that still has min legal tread depth. You were mis quoted that they would replace a bald slick tire for free, that is asinine! If you buy the warranty certs you get a new tire as long as it is 2/32 or better across the entire tread.

This guy is a dickhead, he said he had ordered one but the other was fixable, I don't see how there was a screw in the sidewall right were the tread meets? And when I wanted to see my tires they couldn't produce them. Yall watch your back if you go to the Lake Worth store (Tomas Mendoza) is the store manager, I can't stand that bastard......:flaming:

I'm going to get all my tires over off clifford st at that small tire shop. DT guys are legends in their own mind.....:throw:
