Hey Guys,
I am moving to Dallas (actually Frisco) in two weeks and need a tune for my truck ASAP! I have a Silver 2001 L w/24k miles. Mods are: 4#, HE, Diablo Predator, Accufab, Basanni CB, CAI, E-Fans, 160 stat, and FTVB. I am looking forward to moving out there, and hope to me up with a few of you guys when I do! So anyone know of a good tuner in the area? Thanks!

the tuner we use in the club only tunes with SCT, so you will have to buy a handheld from him to get it tuned, other than that theres alot of shops in dallas that tune with diablo and all of them have been known to blow up lightnings:evil

Welcome,
I run a predator on my 2000. I have used James at RWTD to get a mail order tune.
The only power mod you have is the #4 pulley. If you don't want to purchase a SCT right now just use one of the big names like James at RWTD or Sal at PSP or Johnny lightning that tune diablo to send you a tune by email. That should be a pretty straight forward tune for your mods and most likely not worth the cost of a dyno tune for the level your truck is at.
If you do need it tweaked, with the predator you can datalog and send the log back to your tuner no matter where they are to have it adjusted. In reality that way is a little better because you can get real world running data from street driving, not the artificial load and conditions you get at the dyno shop.
I would stay away from all the local shops, several of them have a reputation for blowing up lightning motors.

Oh great, wonderful, that all I need is a blown up truck in a new city, with a new job...SWEET!:vomit:Thanks for the replies...and as for the pics, I have pics but don't know how to post them...sorry! Its Silver lowered an additional inch and the tailgate is shaved (both handle and blue oval are gone; was the best mod in my opinion)

Thanks for the suggestion I will definitely look into that! but btw, what do you mean when you say that the only power mod I have is the 4# pulley? As far I know the SBTB, CAI, CB and Tuner all help as far a hp #'s go, right? When I first got my truck I put the CAI, SBTB, and Basannis Exhaust on and dynoed at 361 whp at Superior Automotive in Orange, California. From what I was told that is above what a stock 2001 dynos at! Right???

what meant is the only one that requires a re-tune is the 4# pulley, everything else you have doesnt hinder the tune on the truck

That is not entirely true, any change to stock form changes the readings, no matter how big or small the change, there have been some who have pegged their MAF with only a CAI
I agree to some extent and when doing some mods I didn't get a re-tune after every mod

I have pics but don't know how to post them...sorry!
upload the pics to a share site like photobucket.com for example, and then use the insert image link that is up at the top of the box when you are doing a post. OR, become a "supporting member" :tu: and get a photo gallery started!!
Hope that helps.
welcome to the board and club

The first thing I would do is return to the stock tune with only a 4# pulley
HP appears to be low at 361(depending on the type of dyno used, temperatures/humidity)
What were the A/F readings?
Do you have the dyno chart?
All the other mods do not affect the tune at all. IMHO
The next mod is to purchase a wide band A/F if you plan to make any more mods, it will pay for itself verses dyno time.
Welcome

the dyno results were before the pulley according to his post

Okay, missed that, but stock tune on a 4# is fine and usually safer IMHO.

Not thread jackin here but...Here's what my stock 2000 dyno'd (http://kirkmears.com/dnn/Portals/0/pics/l2kdyno7-29.jpg) last year (yeah, that's in the shade). 2001's had +20HP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Lightning) more than the 2000's did.
361ish sounds right to me, but i wouldn't trust my math:tex
oh yeah, welcome to the forum & north dallas ;)

He's in California. Lower octane fuel and I guess altitude there seems to net lower HP. Least that's what most of the Cali guys say. I am willing to bet he get's higher H.P. here than there, with the same tune.
He may also be able to take advantage of 93 octane if he get's his tune updated. That will give him a few ponies also.

Maybe safer, but the tune does get him around 20-30 HP. I believe I remember the guys at SuperChips telling me that the early year Lightnings(99-01) gained more benifit from tuning than the 03-04's.
