Ive finally moved into my new house and love it!! But being a previous foreclosure it hasnt been lived in for a few months and the yard has been a little neglected, its bermuda and i think they had maintence people come by and scalp it ever 3 weeks or so. I have a spinkler system so watering isnt an issue but I was wanting to fertilize and let it grow up some and thicken up. My question is, is it too late in the year to fertilize? And what kind of fertilizer do yall recommend?

go ahead and fertilize it use something from the depot or lowes so you don't burn it
most garden variety lawn fertilizers are high in nitrogen and will give you the pop you are looking for
sharp blades and a consistent mow height are critical http://www.talonclub.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2285&thumb=1&d=1174947471 (http://www.talonclub.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2285&d=1174947471)

buy yourself a quality spreader not some Bullchit and you will be able to dispense the fertilizer equally next spring aerate and use ironite as this helps build roots she will come around quick for you

F that.. Make a call to TruGreen Chemlawn and never worry about fertilizer and weeding again. Best call I ever made for my lawn.

I would respectfully disagree. I went with them my first year in Dallas and was unimpressed. They did however do a decent job doing the aeration job.
I went and got a good Scotts spreader and then used Scotts fertilizer at about twice the amount specified in the directions:tu:.. I would augment that fertilizer with really really cheap stuff that wasnt slow release:tu::tu:.. It would dissolve quickly and really green up the yard FAST, then the Scotts slow release would keep it that way. :D
The other issue I had with Chemlawn is that once you were on their list, the calls never stopped:mad:.. well, they did when I moved away...:d

Pretty much my exact experience with them. They waited so long to treat the Dallis Grass in the back(late June) it pretty much overran my St Aug, and what didn't was killed by their chemicals.
I signed up on Scotts website and they will tell you what schedule to use etc throughout the year. It looks uch better than it ever did with Chemicallawn

Ferris are really nice. Damn pricey tho, can't justify it for one acre home use. I could probably pay someone for 5 years what just the 1500z sells for.
Damn nice machines tho

Gotta get a Dixie Chopper:cool:. Toro is suppsed to have a decent Z turn. Stay away from Murray, Cub Cadet and Craftsman stuff it is all Chinese copy. The good brands are Deere, Toro, Snapper, Scagg. Maybe Consumer Distorts has a rating system for them?

I havent tried this stuff.. is it really better than Scotts? Quite honestly, I think its about the same.. but I use a time released and a non time released so that I can get the quick green up and then keep it there.. I should post up pics of my yard.. its the best grass in the 'hood..

Its better!!!!than vigaro and scotts or any brand.I had friends in the lawn business that told me about. The only down side is if you use a bag on your lawn mower,2 strokes and its full:tu:after about 2 weeks of using it.

Go ahead, be sure to have some pre-emergent and weed kill as well, if you just fertilize the weeds will get a head start on your grass.
