Who is going to race?
What class?
And why that class?

I'm thinking about going Sat. And Sun. But have no idea what class to run in. Other than a bracket class.

:rll:.... I got alot of the T-shirts.

Seriously though, if you are going to enter, the best way to make it a good deal, is to enter Quick Ford. You get two days of racing along with lots of Test and Tune passes and you don't have to pay the membership fee to enter.

It is bracket racing, so consistency will be your best friend.

I was looking at the results of the fast Fords from the other tracks. And I did not think it was bracket racing. Besides, I'm not sure I like the idea of me being the slowest one in the group.

Fast Fords allows electronics. Stay out of it unless you just want to look like you can't drive:rll:.

Quick Fords is foot brakes only and your truck will be one of the faster ones in the class. We used to use quick ford as practice for running Tough Truck. I made it to the finals in QF. What we liked about it was that you have 2 seperate races. One Saturday and one on Sunday. So 2 shots at winning 750 bucks for one entry fee of 75 bucks. You also get to make as many test and tune passes as you want before the actual event on each day. Most of the guys running that class are going to be locals and what not, so you have a good shot at making rounds in it.

I would call you but we are moving my daughter and she is bitching at me for not helping:evil. If i get on the phone all hell is going to break loose:rll:.

Too close to LFest, too expensive, too hot etc...

charlie

I'm not going to Lightning fest. So thats not a problem. Heat should not be a problem. I just finished up welding the I.C. heat exchanger I bought (With a hole in it). No leaks thank God. And I'm fibbing up the fan brackets later on. And I may make brackets to put it in line with the stock heat exchanger. Just depends on how lazy I am this weekend.

Money..... I'll have to raid the piggy bank!

Been to FFW Ennis a few times, wont go back

first time I met Uncle Rocks was at FFW Ennis when he was under the JDM tent after a round of racing, If I remember it was to talk about the Weld slicks and front runners I was going to buy, and eventually did (that have made their rounds through TALON :evil)

Kind of funny that we will drive 600 miles to go to LFEST, but not 60 to go to FFW.

Severely ported intake. C&L Upper and 02 lower. ( I ported them both)
Steg stage III ported Heaton ( for now)
6 lb lower
255 pumps
60 lb injectors
JDM fuel rails and regulator (resistor by-passed)
SCT BA 2400 MAF
NGK TR6 plugs
Open air 12" cone filter
Acu-fab TB
Home made I.C. cooling device
up-graded I.C. heat exchanger (with fans)
Alcy/meth injection (large ports)
FTVB
SFI ballancer
SFI flex plate
Navi water pump
JLP E-fan
Slicks
DS loop

Are you sh!ttin me??? Hell yes that will run at least 12.99. I ran mid to low 12's with less mods than that. What class requires 12.99 or faster? Enter Quick Fords and you may win a round or two. It has no minimum ET.

Are you sure??? I was running 16lbs of boost with a Heaton and knocking the crap out of low 12's. Think hard Mark. how many lbs of boost does it take you to run that low eleven? Even if it is 20, 4lbs of boost would not equate to 1 and a half seconds in the quarter. Your getting mixed up Mark:icon_mrgreen:.

Ninja Edit: Hell, I ran a 12.32 in 100 degree 65% humidity weather at HRP using a six lower and 2 upper on a heaton.

I accept your data, and checked some old slips too, I run mid to high 12s at those temperatures and humidity.
Mid 11 that I ran was at 18 psi and ~70 degrees, very low humidity too, so a second slower in the high temperatures.

Take my advise and don't enter Fast Ford. Fast ford racers are using electronics to time their launches and to time their E.T.'s. You will stand almost no shot of making a round.

Quick Ford does not allow electronics and is where your going to actually make some rounds. Repeat after me..."Quick Ford Please":evil. You will be up against guys more in line with your experience and vehicle level.

03LightningRocks

LOL....I see you saw the light before I made my advise post. You don't have to have a full face helmut, but make sure it has a proper dated snell rating. They probably won't check it, but why risk getting screwed after you have made a few rounds.

Typical for FFW, based on my experiences. One rule on one page...and something different on another...LOL. It allows them to pick which one they want to use for the week end...:evil.

You should go. I'm not afraid of the electronics boys. Just smart enough not to run with them this year. In the early 90's I would foot brake against them for practice, + the pay out was better (It was called Super pro bracket back then) . And yes I did win a few of the bigger pay outs. But I am getting older and slower. Plus I have not had that much track time in this truck. LOL come to think of it....... I've been racing Ford trucks since 91. When every one else was running Cheby cars.

Thanks for the advice and help.

I thought about going. Hell, I am still thinking about it. I don't know if my transmission will hold up to a full weekend of making passes. I do have a trailer I could bring it home on if it breaks:evil. I didn't know how much bracket racing you had done in the past, I just knew you hadn't done alot recently. Those guys in Fast Ford have been known to cut .00x lights one right after another. That can be pretty tough to keep up with round after round using the foot.

I never drove a Cheby...not being Mexican and all...:D. They won't let me park on my yard in Plano, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't become a Cheby guy.

Well after jacking with my tune between every round. ( trying to fix a very lean WOT ) mustered this on my Cluster ****. 13.02 is what will be on my JDM TT race tomorrow. Shortly after that run I figured it out. So my best run goes like this. In the QF races on a 13.00 dial in.

R/t.....021
60 ft.... 1.880
330.......5.315
1/8.......8.133
MPH......89.43
1000.....10.63
1/4.......12.864 <---- Let off the gas before the speed trap.
MPH......98.59

This run I don't know what happened. Don't know what tune either. Not the same tune as the run above.

R/T......-.108 Yeah Yeah Yeah... :tex
60FT...... 1.969
330........5.484
1/8........8.324
MPH.......86.73
1000......10.79
1/4........12.895 Not on the brakes.... Did not let off.
MPH.......110.03
Now for my excuses.
Keep in mind... I'm not a tuner, No stall converter, stock exhaust, 355 gears. 28 in tall slicks.

OK let the bashing begin!

You said that the best he could get with his mods was this. I said bullsh!t. With his mods he could and should be running low to mid 12's. He said, in this post that he is trying to tune his own sh!t. That would be the reason for running those times. Not his mods.

I stand by what I said about the times his mods should be running.

It is not in needing more mods. It is in your tune. LT headers didn't gain sh!t for me. But they do allow you to run more air through the engine, which will get you better times. I would figure out the tuner before adding more mods to the truck. The more mods you add, the more damage a bad tune can do.

I was the first guy with a stock blower and stock motor to break into the elevens around here. I know what the mods you have should be getting you if the tune is right.

I talked to Jim (JDM ) He said with the with my mods and in 95 deg. with 50% humidity I should be running 12.4 - 12. 5 So yeah I know some of it is in my tune. (I figure it out eventually) I went over it last night and I did find one problem, the shift points set too low. Too bad I can't change it till the race is over. (my dial in is already set.)

I should have gone with yall Friday night for test and tune.

Charlie

Oh Ron.... My R/T's where

.064
.102 <------I was sleepy
.004
-.108 <---- Brain fart
.054
.032
.021
.044

And yeah I know I need a better tune..... Bit me..... LOL This is my first tuning experience.
