We talked about this a bit at Lfest. Dennis is thinking with the weak turnout and the limited tracks open in the December time frame a Spring Classic may be the best.

It is difficult to get folks together after Thanksgiving.

Anyone know when the tracks generally open in the spring.

We were talking about Rusk in East Texas. Its a 1/4 mile track only 2 hours away and we should be able to pull some Houston and Louisiana folks

Good luck with that. We used Rusk the past two years for the Bullitt Shootout. The first year was great, but then someone else took over the track. He was horrible. He would not commit, would not respond, and then when we got there he closed the track because it was "supposed" to rain that day. We had people that had driven down from Canada to race.

Looks like it will be difficult again this year to find a decently run 1/4 mile track, especially on Saturday. What are everyone's thoughts on an 1/8th mile venue (Kennedale or Redline). Since we haven't had very good turnout from surrounding clubs, I'm thinking maybe we should try a Saturday event at one of the local tracks maybe on the 10th or 17th of November.

Also, there have been preliminary conversations about an NLOC Regional meet next fall up in Tulsa if there is no LFest 6. :icon_cool:

I'm not opposed to the 1/8. Kennedale has made some improvements to their grounds but track prep has always been hit and miss.

Most of the locals in that area are racing in Dibol from my understanding. It's a 1\4 mile IHRA track. I did some racing there last weekend and had some good results.

1/8 mile is fine. I think we can rent Kennedale for about $2000-$2500. Maybe less if they don't have anything going on. I'll pay $100 to race if were to rent the track. We could even have another "Street tire" Shootout class.

I would prefer a 1/4 mile. That is one of the things that make the TFC cool. I think pretty much everyone can hit a 1/8 mile track within 20-30 mins of their house almost any day of the week.

It just seemed to make the TFC a special event because it was different.

If it's 1/8 mile I'll likely not bother getting the truck dialed in.

I liked the track, didn't mind the drive

only thing I would do different is if we are going to have it catered again we need to take up a collection before so that the guy bringing the food isn't expecting 50 guys/trucks and only 12 show up like last year

Track prep wasn't good at all. It likely had something to do with the cold streak and frozen ground that was going on for that week and a half/two weeks. If I recall correctly it was frozen a day or so before we made the trip up ??

Maybe just letting them know we expect some great track prep etc will get them to help us out a bit ? Who knows.

Dennis,

Depending on when this will be. I will work on some of the South Louisiana Lightning owners to see about making the trip to the race.

Also have you thought about this track.http://www.redriverraceway.net/ Not sure how far it is from some of the TALON member's.

I may be able to help with getting that track not 100% sure but can make a call.

Not just asking because it is in Louisiana it is still a bit of a drive for me.

Well I just got an e-mail from Stan over at DMP:

Will do.

Also what other tracks did you mention in Texas other than HRP, Ennis and ?? Also which do you think is the nicest, has the most ammenities, and can accomodate the largest amount of attendees. I spoke with Travis, (owner of SvtP), and he wants me to start getting things going on a "SvtP L meet of America" or something like that. Some of the other Texas guys are saying HRP. I want to get several opinions then after I get quotes, I will pry leave it on a poll in the L section for the board members to decide... Stan

Another one:

This is what I need to know. Either if you could give me SIXPIPES contact info, or maybe you could relay everything to him, but I would like for him to speak with Ennis then and find out, for starters I need to know:

How many entires/vehicles they can accomodate for racing?
A seperate section for a show (for the non racers)?
What other ammenities they have to offer (parking for spectators, seating for spectators, snack and drink booths, race fuel and N2o options, compressed air, nitrogen, tools, bays, lifts)?
An approximate date this event could be held with great weather (thinking possibly September or October)? Track prep conditions?
Approximate DA for the specified timeline and or usual weather conditions and elevation?
Staffing for track prep/snack booths, tech officials?
Ambulance and EMT's on scene and or Fire Dept.?
Tech certification possibilities?
Licensing availablities?
Is there a limit on trap speeds or ET, types of vehicles, weight of vehicles, tire limitations, etc.?
Would regular NHRA regular tech rules be the case?
A close approximate price to rent the track for a full weekend, Sat and Sunday,
Is the price quote dependant on entries?
Could we race both days and is there a cost difference?
Is there a limit or necessity on classes to race in?
What would be the allowed racign times, (ie: 8:00am to 5:00pm)
Insurance coverage?
Racing waivers supplied?
Entry tickets supplied?

And that should get us started. Please refer my contact info to SIXPIPES as well in case he needs to contact me or has any other questions. Thanks Mike and talk to you soon... Stan

I passed this track this past weekend. Its just east of Crandall (speed trap) on the way to Kaufman. Looks like its a 1/4 mile IHRA track. All the outbuildings are up and the parking lot and 1/4 was clearly visible. It looked to be all gravel from the highway- doesn't looked paved yet.
