My brother in law has an SVT focus and a while ago he was in an accident, to make a long story short, something happened to where little by little the engine was taking in water when it would rain. It was running rough so he took it into the dealer and they said he had lost compression on cylinder 1 and they want $6000 to replace the engine. Based on what he has told me it sounds like one of the piston rings corroded and that is what caused him to lose compression. It in no way sounds like a reason to completely replace the engine. Does anyone here know a good honest place that he could go to to have the engine rebuilt? And about how muich it cost?
I had mine rebuilt a year and a half ago by Terry and it was about $6000, but that was with the better rods and pistons. I imagine that rebuilding would cost considerably less than a new engine, especially from the dealer.
I wan't really sure where to send him since Terry has done all my work (unless he is looking for work and can rebuild a focus engine). Hopefully someone here can offer some advice.
