goes back to the old question, when is an Lighting not really a Lightning anymore? That's like calling a Nextel Cup car a Fusion, or a NASCAR truck an F150. It's only in the name. There's really not enough stock stuff there to call it a Lightning. The chassis is different, the engine is different, etc...

If it started as a Lightning, then its still a Lightning

I just remember seeing this debate about 2 years ago on here. Seemed to be leaning toward what you said, but a lot seemed to think otherwise.

If it was just a shell that looked like a Lightning then I would say no.

alot of these trucks still have the 5.4L motor in them, sure they have been reworked with built components but none the less still an L:cool:

well like the other guys said if it started as a original lightning then the rest is considered a modification there for it's a Lightning:tu:

Call it whatever you want, I'd give my left nut for either one!:tu:

If it's not using the stock powertrain (5.4L) and it has no real frame/body parts ( besides a shell) it's no longer a Lightning.

It's about as much of a Lightning as John Forces car is a Mustang.

For the money and effort put into these funny cars, they should be pulling some 6.xx's at the least. It is beginning to be humorous watching these guys brag about cutting and chopping the sh!t out of the truck and then listing times on a times list of street rides. Maybe they should be comparing to rides in the class they have moved up to. Oh yeah...I know why they don't. Because then they would look just silly.

I'll put it another way. No cut up chopped, rail car Lightning will be put on our times list by me. Not while I am moderating the list. If it does get put on there by some other moderater...my truck will be removed from the list before I hand it over to the next guy.

I wouldn't act like a bitch to a new ...cut up, chopped rail car list for cut up chopped L's...but our list is a street ride list and I believe it should stay that way.

Other racing car clubs say Vin #, stock engine(less than 15% displacement increase), stock intake, stock transmission, stock suspension/brakes, and I could go on but you get the idea.

These trucks are out for many violations of the above.

I would think it would be cheaper and run faster to buy a couple year old pro stock car, hang a F150 body on it, get the Vin plate off a wrecked L and be good to go.:tu:

But these trucks are very nice and I applaud the results.

They look like an L and still have a L vin then I consider it a Lightning.

However any trailer only queen does not belong in a list of true streetable ET lists.
