Does anyone know how long an employee has to work in a year to get vacation time due to them by law or is there a law.Example, friend worked all year and his mom had a stroke, had to leave for 4 weeks.now employer says he isnt due any vacation time because he falls under part time employee.Wow its amazing how cheep and down right dirty rotten people can be.:flaming:I was hoping a law suit for vacation time falls in here.

Employers are not required to give vacation time at all. Most generaly though if you work at least 32 hours per week you are considered full time and will get paid time off. The amount can depend on how long you have worked there. I get 8.5 hours per pay period.

I just took 2 weeks off not to long ago. But i work 60 hours a week. They also said i have personal time if i need some. I only told them ones if i could take some time off and they said yes. They only paid 80 hours not bad.

You can look up Texas Wage and Labor laws. The general rule is all they legally owe you is minimum wage... Anything else is out of the goodness of their hearts.
