Lady has a storage building about 20'x6'x8' that she would like torn down. Story is, the roof is completely rotted through and what's left of the roof is nearly falling down. Sides of the storage shed seem to be in good condition and wood that can possibly be used again. Well, she asked me how much would I charge her for the demolition/tear down and I have no idea what would be a good price. I have just about everything and anything for the job but haven't came up with a price. I won't have to haul anything...just pile it on the side of the curb.

So, what price do you guys think is fair?

if you charge by the hour you still need to come up with a quote. you need to estimate how long it will take you to tear it down. i haven't seen it so i can't guesstimate how long it will take.

Well, I'm thinking it's probably going to take 3-4 hours... I'm thinking.... There's some minor electrical work required too....

$100 an hour sounds decent, plus hazard pay for rusty nails/electricity, and she owes you a happy ending... :icon_mrgreen:

If it is an elderly lady on a fixed income, maybe a little charity is appropriate...tearing stuff down is fun and you don't have to haul it.

I need to find a gig like that for some extra $$$. I would load it up on my trailer and burn it at my parents place.

If it a charity thing. I'll help. I'll even take some of the wood off.

If you have to haul it off I would say in the $300 to $350 range. Since all you are doing is tearing it down I would charge around $200-$250.

I tore one down almost identical in size about 2 years ago in my back yard. I even took the time to remove every single shingle and resused any good wood on the replacement I built and it still didn't take that long. The worse part was hauling to the dump and unloading there but you don't have to do that.

That lady doesn't have any problem spending the cash. This is just a rental home she owns...her place is a half million dollar home. Before I found out what she was worth $$, I trimmed some trees and cleaned up the yard just to help out and never charged her. Even though I told her I didn't mind doing it, she would still write me a check. There was one time I switched out a couple broken dead bolts and she gave me $50. I don't mind helping people out...I'm always up for charity.
