Repairing Stone chips?

I was wanting to repair some stone chips on the driver's side door, so I bought a chip repair kit with factory matched paint (shadow gray). Well, long story short, it looks worse now then it did before. The paint ended up drying darker (I think it is because the metallic flakes in the paint werent applied in the correct fashion). Needless to say it is an eyesore. Can anyone provide some direction/help on how to get this fixed? Thanks in advance!

I've heard touchup123.com has some nice stuff for fixing chips and also repairing bad attempts at fixing chips with touch up paint. Check them out on the web, they have a tool for sanding paint blobs smooth that might help you. I haven't used it but others on some of the forums I've been on recommend it. Good luck!
