Kidd and Allen for harris, stackhouse, diop, george & ager?!?!?!?!?!?!
I haven't been keeping up with them this year but that's crazy...

Looks like the New Jersey Nets finally gave Jason Kidd his wish and shipped him off to a contender.
ESPN.com reports that the Nets and Dallas Mavericks have agreed in principle to a deal (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3244102) that sends Kidd and Malik Allen from New Jersey to Dallas in return for Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Devean George and Maurice Ager.
Here are the fantasy ramifications of this trade:
Jason Kidd, PG (DAL): His fantasy situation is fairly irrelevant in this conversation. He's one of the better point guards and is owned in all leagues. His value probably increases a notch now that he'll be fired up playing for a championship, but again, that's only relevant to the people who own him.
Devin Harris, PG/Marcus Williams PG (NJ): One of these two players figure to get the biggest jump in fantasy value. Marcus Williams, the Nets' first-round pick last year, was supposed to be the heir apparent to Kidd. Harris is the better player right now and will probably suck up the most minutes to starts. Pick up Devin Harris now and keep an eye on the situation to see how the minutes are doled out.
Jerry Stackhouse, G (NJ): Jerry Stackhouse didn't have a ton of fantasy value to begin with and now he has even less. He'll be behind Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, which means he won't get enough playing time to change his lack of fantasy value.
DeSagana Diop, C (NJ): He is an expiring contract that was thrown into the deal. His value is limited to blocks, but he probably won't play a lot of minutes considering the Nets like to run a lot and he's slow. Also, the Nets are developing Sean Williams and Josh Boone in their front court, which doesn't help Diop's cause.

Stack should be back in 30 days and resign a new deal with Mavs. NJ is just buying out his old contract, they don't want him. As for the rest of the deal...I don't think that the loss of Ager, George is such a bad deal. Harris on the other hand is a speedy, speedy player and gets to the basket pretty good. He is not a great point guard yet but he is young and needs more experience. If they held on to him Kidd might have been a good teacher. I thought the Mavs had a pretty good rotation at center with Diop and Damp. Damp is gonna wear out. Not sure who the back up is going to be now. I guess they are looking to the future over the next 3-4 months. Not the future 2-3 years from now.

The only way this trade will work in my mind. The mavs must win a championship either this year or at least sometime in the next three years. The mavs should of never let Nash go.

appearently Devean George is using his no-trade clause in his contract.

Saw that last night on ESPN. This could be interesting, Cuban said this was the only way they could get kid to dallas. This trade would not work it out any other way,the Mavs would end up paying out more in the long run.

Hope Kidd does come to Dallas, we need him

Harris is too flakey with his shots and lay ups, if all we are losing is speed, Kidd can make up with his outside shot, assist, and ability to penetrate to the basket

the only thing Diop is good for is containing Duncan, everytime they match up Diop seems to have Duncans number

Stackhouse will take a 15-30 day vacation and be back to Dallas

Having Kidd, Dirk, Jet, and Howard on the floor would be a deadly combination :tu:

I'm all for this trade if we do in fact get stack back. I can't stand deaven george (0 for 11 last night) I wish they never got him in the first place.

The more I think about this trade the more I think we need Diop. Dampier will have no back up, and he gets on avg 2 fouls in the first 5 min of the first qtr.

I think we should try to trade for a point like Mike Bibby or Sam Cassell and either a 2 like Vince Carter or a low post scorer like Jermaine O'Neil (he has hurt knees right now but would be a go next season). Mike Miller is also rumored to be on the trade block and we could use a shooter. Hell I've heard that Ron Artest could be had and wouldn't that be cool to watch him bust Bruce Bowen in the mouth when playoffs come. I wouldn't mind who we traded as long as we didn't give up Dirk or Josh. I'm a big fan of Terry but he doesn't distribute the ball well at point and he's too small to guard 2's. I would like to see this team transform into more of a slashing/inside-out scoring team instead of watching them jack up jumpers all night long and not play defense.
