reasonable mods, but the interior pic looks pretty good. What are you replacing on the interior?

:beer:Terry, go back to bed and get some sleep.. but keep that glock nearby. I got Kim her bedside gun, a Taurus Judge. Yes its a .45 Colt revolver but its also shoots .410 shotgun shells from the same chambers, so using 4 shot loads, its like shooting 4 9mm shells at whatever she points it at..

You should have a shotgun with a fore grip light in the house it is like shooting someone with 9-15 9mm's at once. A shotgun pistol that is silly:) 410's are for snakes and rodents. Shotguns and rifles generally need 21 inches of barrel to burn all the powder and reach their best velocity. Have you shot it yet at night? I bet it is a night blinding fire ball. No Glocks over here except for the Airsoft. I lost the Talon site after time change....:tex

Dang, well we are also figuring that between the noise and the fire ball, that the BG will hightail out of the house.. I will have my 9mm Ruger revolver and my .380 Kel Tec P3AT with laser on my side.. the KT will be with me always, well at least where I can legally carry it. I have Taurus .38 Ultralight 5 shot revolver coming in too, to keep in the truck.. Kim wants a Kel Tec as her CCW as well.. I understand on the shotgun, but the revolver will be as close at it gets..

i recently carfaxed it AFTER i bought it. come to find out this truck has over 275k miles on it. the guy i bought it from must have swapped dashes:icon_evil:
my car i traded was valued at $5000. and i gave hime $1000 cash with it....
so i think this truck is only worth about $4000 with its mileage.
i just lost $2000 he wont answer the phone or email me back. he lives 7 hours away. i am kind of stuck with it. But for that many miles this truck is in great shape and still has alot of power. the trans feels like it has a shift kit.
thanks for the welcoming. I may be a noob here, but i am NOT a newb to forums lol

Hopefully i can just get my $1000 back and put it towards the truck. that would still be paying $5000 for a 275k lightning.
If i do keep it, i think i am going to get it dynoed this friday for a baseline. idk what has been done to the motor. everything appears stock.

I can no longer find the ad, how many miles did he say it had? Is the carfax consistent with the milage up to 275 or is there a large jump in miles? It has new paint, and if everything seems mechanically fine, I see no reason not to keep it.
What kind of Mustang did you trade for it?

the striker on the passenger door is rattles.
the frame on the slide window that holds the latch came unglued. there is a crack in the windshield. the transmission shifts rediculously hard. when you put it in gear you have to hold the brake for abotu 4 seconds it takes forever to kick into gear. sounds like hte exhaust is rattling. i am going to have my mechanic check it all out this week and make sure everything is safe on it. the ball joints and all suspension parts need to be gone through. ever bearing and seal too. i probaly will restore this truck over the summer. take it apart and repaint all metal and replace all plastic and rubber.

Not at all ... you will have major driveability issues. I love the lopey idle too, but you will want to switch to mass air first. I'm thinking of converting to OBDII if i go the mass air route, for easy tuning.
with the speed density, your LSA needs to be at least 114*.
Though I know of no-one getting a cam with less than 114* LSA to work, you might want to get with Charlie. He has some tuning ideas we were talking about trying on my truck, concerning a cam with less than 114* LSA. I don't have the funds to try it yet, so maybe you can try if you feel adventurous...

No electronics in the C6... What are your plans for the truck... Daily driver, street/strip, full race, other?
Keep in mind that you will lose the overdrive with the C6. With stock gears you would be winding it out pretty good on the highway. Of course if you don't plan on driving it much more than to the races, then who cares... the C6 is lighter too.

You do have several options with mass air...
1.. You may be able to scrounge up one of the old ProM or Ford Motorsport mass air conversions, but you will have to do some digging, because they are no longer produced.
2.. You can do an A9L mustang ECM with a non electronic tranny, or a Bauminator tranny controller.
3.. You can covert to OBDII by stripping the ecm & parts of the wiring harness from a 97' F-250/350 with a 351.

Looks like an HEI
Yah, it's based on the old GM HEI...
tshock... is it vacuum advance? looks like it in the pics, though that may just be a generic pic they are using. Also...the ad says that it only has 1 wire... leads me to believe even more that it it is vacuum advance, and makes me think that it is for carbed aplications. I say this because you've got a PIP sensor in your stock dizzy. If you eliminate that with a dizzy that just has a single 12V input, you will lose your PIP input & the truck won't run.
How much hotter do you want your spark? the stock setup is actually pretty good, and until you are running a boosted or nitrous application, you really won't get any more power.
Myself, I'm running a MSD blaster coil (stock configuration) and a MSD 6A ignition box. My setup is actually overkill for my stock engine, but I didn't know that 12 years ago when I got it & now it's there so why not use it since I spent the $$$?
Personally, I like the MSD & several other setups better than the HEI, but that is just my personal preference, so take it with a grain of salt.
I know you said earlier in the thread that you were planning on keeping the trick N/A with a good cam. Do you plan on changing the heads & adding headers too? That would be your best bet to get N/A power out of your L. If that is the plan, I'd upgrade your coil, give it a tune-up with QUALITY parts.. . cap rotor wires & plugs, & be done with the ignition.. save your $$$ for the real horesepower makers... heads & cam.
On the tune-up note... NGK Iridium are probably our trucks favorite flavor, followed by Autolite/Motorcraft coppers. They will give you the most HP & best mileage. Don't bother with the platinum, they only last longer than the copper plugs... that is all. The old copper plugs actually have a hotter spark, they last 30K, the Platinums last 60K. As easy as it is to change our plugs, the platinums aren't worth it.
Also, PLEASE don't get the splitfire or any of the other forked or multi electodes.. they are a waste of money. I can elaborate more if you want.
Damn, this post is getting long... I'll give your eyes a break & go.
Tshock

damn, thanks.
Yes i want to put only the best functioning/looking products on my truck. I thought one wire without a coil would look really good.
But i guess i will have to look for something better. I eventually will add nitrous, after i get everything ready to handle it.
MY checklist is going like this.
First: fix all minor issues and cracked interior, dynamat interior, new carpet.
Second: Wheels and tires (something black with the lip powdercoated to match the blue in the lightning decal.
Third: FULL ignition system. I am going to go with a Pertronix Second strike box, it draws less amps than MSD and produces alot more spark. billet dizzy, new coil/ wires. Then work on computer, maybe a TwEECer R/t, i have been reading alot on them i think it is my easiest alternative to MAF.
Fourth: Suspension
Fifth: engine/trans rebuild (i want 500 at the wheels with some squeeze)
This is how i am seeing the truck coming together in the garage. one check at a time.
thank you all for helping me get a grip on the 1st gen world.!!!
