I am needing some help. I bought my truck with 5% tint and now it is time to get it inspected. I really don't want to change it out. What do you guys think? Thanks for your input.

I think that 5% is illegal and that about 20 inspection stations that were "helping people" were shut down last week and the inspectors put in jail

Makes you wonder if this guy is a cop?:tex
Regardless, You would only have to strip the side windows. In Texas it's legal for the back to be dark like that. The sides are the cheapest to retint.
I've gotten away with just pulling the fuse and telling them the windows don't work. There's no law saying you have to have side windows?

Six people, who work in area auto repair shops, found themselves in handcuffs in a county-wide crackdown on fake vehicle inspection stickers.

The six people arrested face prison sentences of 2-20 years in prison, if convicted.

This kind of question always bugs me. If one does (or has) something illegal, one should be willing to pay the piper. So----- if you don't want to change the tint, be ready to act if the truck does no pass inspection. What the good folks on this board think about it one way or the other does not change the facts. Rant over:flaming:

Most inspectors have one thing they really are strict on and they forget most of the others. Tint is one thing most inspectors forget to even look at. I would venture to say that chances are pretty good that they wont even check it. Especially if you go to a inspection station that doesnt cater to cars that commonly have dark tint. As an example if you go to Jiffy Lube they will probably check the tint. But if you went to a Lincoln Mercury dealer they probably wouldnt because they dont have customers that have very dark tint. I saw many, many inspections done on Lexus and no one EVER checked the tint. Truth be know if they dont check it all the time... they forget they are even supposed to check it.

Oh and I forgot ..They aren't going to make a big bust for forgeting to check tint or missing a hole in a muffler. They are going after the guys that write purely bogus stickers for cars that dont even come close to passing the emissions.

yeah but the publicity means that in general its going to be tougher to "slide" on anything in the short term
