I did the class and the paperwork for my CHL. Mailed it all in and am anxiously awaiting my permit to shoot people.

For those of you with your CHL's, do you remember how long it took the state to process the paperwork and get your license to you?

Good for you. Every law abiding Texan should have their CHL. It takes about 60 days from the time you mail it, as long as there's nothing out of whack. (smudged finger prints, forgot to sign the back of a picture, etc).

Check this forum out www.texaschlforum.com (http://www.texaschlforum.com) GREAT info can be had there. My user name on that forum is HighVelocity

When I did mine about a year ago it took about 6 weeks. The wife and a bunch of friends took the class together and mailed their applications around Feb 5. Last week they finally began processing. I looks like 90 days is becoming the norm. :(

They used a scanner of some kind to do fingerprints...so hopefully no problem there. Thanks for the link...I bookmarked that one.

Seems like a long time to wait. It is like watching for a pot of water to boil.

Is there a way to check if it is being processed yet?

It took me about 7 or 8 weeks to get mine. Might be because I'm Mexican.:icon_mrgreen: LOL

Thanks for the link. Reading through the forum at the link Gary posted, it lookes like the wait is as much as 90 days now. Guess they are backed up or something.

Took mine about 12 weeks because they sent it back to me once. I left out I think 2 months of my living arangements and they sent it back. Sucked when I got it in the mail I was oh yea my CHL is here then when I opened I was pissed to find it was not my CHL and I had to send it back for more waiting.

I'm worried about that one too. I was looking through my list of sh!t to send in and noticed something about getting some affidavit notarized. I don't know if this item was already notarized at the class or not. I know I didn't have anything notarized before I sent it off. I am not even sure at this point what "affidavit" the list is referring to. I checked with the DPS sight and asked for a pin. They said my paperwork hadn't been entered in the system yet. I sent it in on 3/12/08. Seems like they should have a pin for it by now.

Mine took a bit over 8 weeks last fall. Mailed in the last week in September and got it back late November. I never could get my pin number to work.

In most classes the instructor is also a notary so that you can do it all in one spot.

It took them 7 weeks to get my wife's entered into the system.

I was thinking that the notary stuff was already done. I started worrying when they said my stuff hadn't been entered yet.
