I read two books while traveling and they were both the on the fair tax movement.
I had some reservations but after reading and doing a little research we need to embrace this type of system
my .02 anyone else have thoughts

In my opinion politics and the whole system of glad handing and handouts is FAR too tied to the current system to EVER make that kind of significant change. To many people are too addicted to the current nipple to ever let go ..

A girl has a father who is a very well to do banker and sends his daughter off to college. Well she spends a semester at a very Liberal college where her profs. teach about how bad "rich" people are and how they are the ones who are ruining this country
The daughter comes home for the holidays and starts yelling at her dad about how bad of a person he is and how he should give all of his money away.
Her father then asks how her semester of school was and what grades she made. She said I made a 4.0 and I worked really hard to get it too. The father then asked about her roommate, which she replied she partied all the time and made a 2.0.
The father said why don’t you give her one of your grade points so you will both be even and have a 3.0. The daughter said no way, I worked hard to get my 4.0 while she partied all of the time and thinks she deserves someone to give her better grades but not work for them
the father smiled and said, welcome to the republican party

The main reason I liked Mike Huckabee is he supported a flat tax, getting rid of the IRS and putting everyone on an equal field
would it have passed, probably not, but one can dream
no tax return for me, I had to pay

I always always always tell folks.. its not that you get a return on your income tax, what did you actually pay.. you did pay something most likely. although there are some that dont..but look at how much you paid..then start adding all the taxes up that you pay, property tax, school tax, gasoline tax, road taxes, sales taxes, etc etc.. its amazing how much we pay.. but on the income tax, its not how much you got back but how much did you pay..

It is better to give than receive on income taxes, but more than 1/3 is too much, we need a change.

All the tax rates and methods discussed wont effect the amount just the method - getting rid of the IRS wont save that much ...

One of the principals of this type of system is that it stimulates overall economic growth.
The personal side of it is not necessarily affected with amount paid. Some would maintain that under the fair tax that the individual pays less. I think it they would be similar totals.
It gets rid of the IRS. The current tax code is so complex that even those who enforce it don't comprehend it.
it would make government spending transparent which is a good thing
I realize that no one new system is the answer to all of our issues but the more I research this approach the more I like it
