Man stabbed in botched home invasion

ARLINGTON -- One man was stabbed and his two partners are at large after a home invasion went wrong for them Monday evening, police said.
Police Lt. Blake Miller said a man in his later teens or early 20s knocked on a door in the 2500 block of San Diego Drive about 7 p.m., saying his car broke down and that he needed a jump for his battery.
Miller said the man who answered the door turned to ask his son to get the jumper cables when in walked two other young men, one with a shotgun.
The dad grabbed the man with the gun and they struggled. Meanwhile, his son pulled a knife and stabbed the invader.
The stabbing caused the would-be robber to drop the gun, so all three fled with the dad, now armed with the shotgun, in hot pursuit through the south Arlington neighborhood, Miller said.
The sight of a man with a shotgun prompted many calls from residents.
Miller said the dad, realizing that running through the neighborhood with a shotgun might cause someone to shoot him, dropped the gun and went home.
The stabbed man was found hiding in a culvert about a mile away at Palo Alto Drive and Indigo Lane.
Miller said he was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital and is expected to face charges of aggravated robbery.
Police are looking for the other two.

What do you do, not trust or help anyone... I cling to a sliver of hope that most folks are decent...

This is too sad.. no good deed goes unpunished.. I wonder what the outcome would have been if it had been mom and daughter, rather than dad and son (with knife).

That's too bad your kids have to carry a weapon (knife) inside their own homes when the doors are locked. I guess I won't answer the door to a stranger anymore without my Glock visible for them to see.

:ron:Rob came by my old house one time years ago. He was kind of surprised when I answered the door with the G32 tool. I told him to call first next time. But as time goes on it has proven to be a good habit to have. I am always within one second of a weapon, cell phone and car keys:tex
Of course back then my best weapon was the 96lb disgruntled German Shepherd laying in wait.:evil I have been in some real bad neighborhoods. Around folks that don't even flinch at the sight of a gun or knife. My shepherd damn sure had their undivided attention though... A well trained personal protection dog is more intimidating than any pistol you can waive at a real OG. Especially when they hear you commanding them in German:tu::ron:

If I am not expecting someone, I answer the door with my gun in my hand. I don't let them see it, but it is in my hand just out of sight.
