A friend of a friend just recently bought a 1999 L and recently had some problems. I don't know the whole story but from what I know the owner took his truck to a shop were he was told he had a blown head gasket. what are the odds that he only needs new head gaskets?
He wants to do it himself, my friend and I are going to help him. I would like any advice and tips anyone with good knowledge is willing to offer. also what are all the parts and special tools needed.

My 2000 lost 3 head gaskets
The head to block fit was bad - Pass side rear - pretty common

when i blew the passenger side head gasket on my 2000, they learned once they removed the head that coolant leaked over and cracked the block and they had to put a whole new long block in it under warranty:cool:

I would have suggested him to terry but the only problem is that I am currently in Orlando. I don't think terry would want to travel this far for a head gasket R&R.
so there is a small chance that there is catastrophic damage but most likely things will be ok?
