Well a few days ago I went to Kansas and before I left the truck was perfect. but the second I got home three days later all the factory gauges dont work, all lights, dimmer switch, bulbs are working and gauges are working but at night I have no light to see the dash. I checked the fuse and all fuses are good but not getting any power to the fuse. any ideas:confused:

Got rats? The dash lights are tied to the tail lights so you know when they are out as well. The dash is fed from the light blue with a red stripe from the thin connector off the light switch. They are powered by a 5 am fuse that is pretty much in the middle of the fuse panel. It is only powered when the light switch is on. You may also check the auto lamp courtesy fuse under the hood in that fuse box, it is a 15 amp I believe. Does it run fine? Any after market gauges or stereo connections? These are wiring colors 00-up anyway.

Could it be the ground? L's are known for having a weak ground.

the ground wire is puny.. I had mine upgraded.. depending on yours, and I am really guessing, Terry will tell you I am no mechanic.. but this could be it..

Check that 5amp fuse in the middle of the fuse panel for the dash lights. see if it goes hot when you turn the switch on. Pull the switch out and check that blue with red stripe for power to the gauges. Make sure the dimmer is turned up. If you are not getting voltage out of the blue with red stripe the light switch is bad. I have a box of new ones if you need one.

Are you getting power out of the switch or not.....
I guess the luminescent cluster panel could have burned out..

I almost got that far. I had the insturment cluster out and saw that it was diffrent than I thought. I couldent tell if anything was wrong. How much would those bulbs cost me? Yes the switch is getting power.

Hes not asking if there is power coming into the switch, what he's asking is if there is power going out of the switch once it is switched on. Can only be tested with a test light and by turning the switch on and off after you have found the wire that sends power to the cluster....

Check the BLUE with RED stripe in the 4-5 pin connector. That should be the power to the cluster......Before I kil you!

Checked the Blue wire with the red stripe It has volts when the lights are on and the dimmer switch is all the way up. It was around 11.76 volts and when u turn the light switch off there is no volts.:flaming:

My electrical diagram is in Alvarado. I know the blue with red stripe is the variable output to cluster illumination. The power should vary from zero to full battery voltage. That sends it to the cluster IMO. If that wire has power the problem should be in the cluster. I'll try to get to my diagrams.
