I could use some info on your launch technique, anyone that has run good 60ft times on slicks. What rpm should I launch with, when do I start to dig into it after launch? I'm going out to Ennis or Red River this week and I could use all the helpful tips I can get. Thanks guys .

What slicks, traction bars, converter, and HP level?

My vote - most tq converters just gas it off idle (flash it). Very few street converters like to be footbraked (is that even a word?). I found on most I've used that even a little stall up (to 1000) just to take the slack out made it not launch as hard and made me have a higher 60' foot. However race converters are a different animal and can be launched at different rpms with good results. Those are just my experiences. However you never know till you try it at different rpms different tire pressure. With slicks, a good suspenion, and preped track you shouldnt have to feather it outa the hole....

Zac pretty much said what I have found to be true. When I am bracket racing I bring the converter up till I feel the truck beginning to pull then back off a hair. For my converter (PI 2400 stall) that is usually around 2000-2200 RPM's. This gives me great reaction times, but puts my 60 foot times in the high 1.5x's. When I am going for a low ET and I want to run good 60's, I bring it to around 1000 RPM's and flash it from there. This nets me 1.4x 60's and better ET's.

What slicks, traction bars, converter, and HP level? Mods, HP #'s are a bit higher now.

Im no expert by far,but from what i saw you should try to heat your tires more, and find out what RPM you can hold with the brakes without breaking the tires loose and use that RPM for your launch.Love your truck Tony!!:tu::bows

I use to subscribe to the same belief. After being schooled by drag racers who have far superior knowledge than mine, I soon realized you want to be careful about over-heating your tires. The only reason to do a long smokey burnout with our combination is for show. It also eats up slicks quicker than most guys want to buy new ones. Doing a long smokey burnout actually heats up your motor and the plenum sitting on top of it which works against your H.P. needs. You would be amazed at how quick a set of slicks heat up. Also...NEVER do a heavy tire spin while in the water box. It throws water up under your wheel wells and then while sitting at the light the water can drip back down on your slicks. Just roll your rear tires through it and do your burnout just past the box. I have been known to just spin the tires one revolution in the water box if the box is real dry.

I'm financially comfortable...not rich. I can't afford to go...straight up. I filled up today and about had a cow when the Arabs tagged me for damn near 200 bucks in diesel.

Me too. Until I put "skinneys" on the front. Most of my reason for running front skinnys was being tired of trying to back into the water. Some tracks around the country won't let you back up to the water. Folks have been known to leave it in the wrong gear and back into the car behind them.
