A month ago they were everywhere but I didn't have the money.. Now I have the money & no-one has them. (except online stores) Does anyone know of a good place to find Toyo Proxxes for a Gen 1 around here? Preferrably in the So Arlington/Mansfield area? They carry them for Gen 2's just no 275 60 R17s.

I need tires too. Maybe we can get a better deal if we buy 2 sets?

I think the more the better... Anyone else looking for tires?
I talked with the manager @ NTB on 20 near Matlock about a month ago when I got tires for my wifes car. He said that they don't carry them, but that he would get them if I wanted. I hadn't called him yet, because I figured that they would be a little pricey due to the fact that they don't carry Toyo... Special order usually = $$$, but maybe with more than 1 set, I can get him down to a decent price. I'll check & I'll keep looking with you in mind. I'll let you know what I find.

Guys, have you run Toyos before? their tire compound is a bit harder.. it lasts longer but is more prone to spinning at takeoff..

My Toyo's do not like the water on the road either.

I'm on my 3rd set of them... For the gen 1's it is pretty much our best option. 275 60 R17 seems to be a bastard size, unless I want a crappy set of touring, all terrain or light truck tires. The only other option I see is the Hankook, but I've heard of a few bad experiences with those, and the Goodyear eagle GT II's, which I've had before & they flat out sucked. You gen 2 guys have it easy... lots of choices.
My Toyos have been pretty good to me... even in the rain.
Unless someone has some 01'-02 "Frankenstien" rims they would like to donate to the cause.:twitch: I think that they would look right at home on my 93' after a little machining to make them fit.:tu:

Thanks, I didnt know about the options, although us Gen 2 guys feel that we dont have enough options either.. I go with Nittos since I run the DR's in back and the 555's up front. They just handle the water better than F1's. Good Luck!

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Grabber+UHP&partnum=76VR7GRUHP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=3
only issue may be that they have a 360 tread wear rating so they wont last very long but should be plenty sticky...

Those could be an option... Anyone ever had a General tire? Good bad experiences?
They look like they would be good-n' sticky. Some complaints about noise & wear in the reviews, but that does tend to go with a performance tire.

I went to Clifford Street Tire, got a set of Falken's Ziex s/tz04's for the Gen 1 and love them, they were 560.00 out the door mounted and balanced....they have 14/32 of meat on them......here's the link

I have Falken STZ 01 on my truck. Very nice tire I will likely buy again when I need more tires. You think its hard for you, I have a choice of basically only 2 tires for my truck (275/50-17)

I have a set of General's on the Pathfinder. Not a 'performance' tire by any means but we are 52K and they still have some life left. I rotate religiously at every 6k.

Well, I'm having a hard time finding the Toyo's. Kauffman has them, but they want way too much for them... $189.00 ea. I only paid 146.00 each last time. I'm going to try calling 1 more place on Monday (they are closed for the weekend right now) & if that doesn't pan out, it looks like the best option is the Falken Ziex S/TZ-01. Those aren't too bad; $563.00 out the door with tax & lifetime rotate/balance @ Discount Tire.
Wht95... Do you want me to see if I can get them down any lower buying two sets?
