Just asking, and why do you think so?

I don't like either choice. I'll vote for McCain as the lesser of two evils but the way he flip flops really bugs me.

No matter how you look at it, the next four years are going to be ugly. :tex

No one particular issue.. but being a conservative, his approach to the energy issue right now is more of what I think should be done, he wants to finish it up on Iraq and we have seen some real progress there and Afghanistan. With the Pakistani's now taking some action, we could see a real major downturn for the Taliban and Al Queda. My only real issue with him is border security and immigration, he isnt tough enough but neither would Obama be. I also prefer his approach to the current tax laws as I would get a major hosing from Obama. Lastly, I want there to be some balance of power between the White House and Congress, although I think the Dems are going to win too many seats to make a difference..

Neither, Obama is so far the other way it is plain scary that he could have a shot. Hopefully the silent majority will get McCain in office if those are the only choices. I wish a younger more progressive man like Gulliani would have taken it. We are about to the point of needing to rebuild this once great nation...

Obama has an excellent speech writer. But I dont hear much about his actual policies, and what I do hear (hello new taxes!) I don't like.

I am not so sure on that one. There are several people of color that I could vote for, it depends on where they stand on the issues. Its where this guys stands on the issues that bothers me.. plus, he is so arrogant as to think that if he sits down with the Pres of Iran, he can change his mind. What a laugh.. I think his ex-pastor got it right when he called him, just another politician. This guy was/is so far left and now he is trying to move to the middle that no position, no policy, no person is sacred to him. In the end, he just wants to be elected.
Heck, I could probably vote for Condaleeza Rice. :tu:She would have been good for the ticket except she is pro choice and the evangelical Christians would have stayed away in droves to prove a point.

I think the two party system is broke, but it is all we have so I am going Republican again, even though I did not think the Republicans took advatage of the majorities they had in both houses of congress, they at least keep my taxes lower than the Democrats.

One thing that I find amusing is universal healthcare argument why? because if you live in Dallas County and have no healthcare or income you can go to Parkland hospital and get healthcare already, so what is that called.

America is ready for a President that can do a good job, period. Race is not as big an issue as you think.

If Colin Powell were running for president, it'd be a landslide victory, imho.

the parkland ER is not healthcare - and its pretty much dedicated to illegals now

getting off topic but show me a country with universal health care where its working well.

It actually works fairly well in Hawaii.. however, they do not have the logistical issues that the USA mainland has.. it works ok in Iceland, see prior comment on logistics, plus a rather homogeneous population that isnt as non-compliant as ours.. but in general, its either too expensive or it rations care, a fact that no one wants to talk about or that no one wants..

Obama and his wife are racist as well as a socialist. When will people wake up to this fact? John McCain will be my vote as well.

McCain will be my choice, due to the fact that he is the lesser of two evils. Race is not an issue here for me, but America, unfortunately, has not progressed enough to vote in a black president. I know there are a lot of great black leaders out there that would be perfect for the job, but there are those freaks out there that believe the president should be an old white curmugeon. I don't think the US will vote Obama in period...the US as a populous has not progressed out of the stoneages yet when it comes to this issue.

My opinion.

This area of Texas is almost always Republican territory.

Maybe I read Marks question wrong. I thought he asked who we thought would be the next president. If the question is who do I think the next president will be I think Obama is going to take it. Too many people are ticked off at Bush and McCain is probably going to pay for that.

I don't think Obama will go the distance he has some issues that will bite him in the a$$ moving forward.

I look for the republican party to really start the grinder after the DNC

Mark #2

Yes the question is
Who do you think will be the next president?

NOT who do you want for the next president.

I see Taxes stopping Obama, but not much else.

I still think McCain is next president.

Interestingly enough I will Predict that we are about to get into a tussle with Iran and that will bring into focus the need for an experienced world leader. Is this by design of the Bush White House ? I am not sure but the timing is suspect. Will the net effect be good for the Republican party ? I think it will if it is spun correctly and it would give us a new "foe" if you will.

Be on the lookout for some questionable Michelle Obama ties to a foods distributor in the Chicago area to surface. Seems Michelle was catching fat dollar on a few boards. Is this new in politics? No. Will it be part of the Republican spin?

Not beating the McCain drum but do not think Obama has the gas. We also have to consider demographics with respect to a voting population and at the end of the day traditionally white 40 plus somethings are the strong suit

PS I would have voted for Hillary if the reverand Al was her running mate:vomit:

I agree in concept with what he is saying.

Let me try to rephrase - We should be encouraging all our children to learn as much as possible, we should be providing them the opportunity and encouraging the chance to learn 2nd and 3rd languages. Much of the rest of the world can speak multiple languages - we should try to keep up

However
I disagree strongly with the idea that we should learn onl spanish and that its more important for me to learn spanish than it is for the immigrants to speak english
