Should have bought a GMC or Chevy. Better incentives and better mileage etc. You can't beat 0% for 72 months and 16-20mpg.
The 5.7 Tundras are eating gas and falling apart.

Going on one year and 19K miles with mine and not a single problem. I read the Tundra boards and am not aware of any major across the board issues.
As far as the mileage, the chevy's get a whopping 1mpg better than the 5.7 tundra but don't have the power or payload to match.
So far I've been beyond pleased with my Tundra over the past year...knock on wood...

You are just a commuter that could have gotten by with a 1988 S-10 Jimmy, your opinion is weak just like the Tundra:D

I workd for the Toyota motor manufacturing in Huntsville alabama for 6 months and dont trust some of the motors that comes from there, fyi all usa tundra 5.7 liter engins come from there anyway. On the engin run testing there the engins that didnt pass they bypassed the engin run testing all the time just so they couldnt slow down the production, and on some that the top oil senser that failed they always usd to beat on them with a hammer till the thing would work. 99.9% of the engin failure in the field was due to the green shift. Bye the way all the employees at Toyota had tundras and thought that they could compeat with my lightning so our first race I gave them a three link head start. and passed him just after the 8th mile mark:evil

I think they are Fugly and really could not drive one.

I think Honda makes an awesome product but that Lesbian wagon they call a truck would not find its way to my drive either

Wow you must be psychic to know how I drive my truck when I can't even fully answer that question. :icon_rolleyes: The next time I don’t know something about myself I’ll just ask you…:icon_mrgreen:
Someone who drives a vehicle every single day and their experience doesn’t count. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
I do commute about 60miles a day in my Tundra, I also regularly use it as a work truck and have made several trips loaded with an 8000lbs trailer load. I figure that I use my truck in the same manor as 95% of other owners would use theirs.

The tailgate scares me a little from some of the stories I've read. I realized that it is a weak point however I really don't worry about it and I’ve had several hundred lbs of load on the tailgate without any trace of damage. Since I know this is a weak point I probably won’t try to load a 1000lbs four wheeler without removing the tailgate but I’m not going to baby it either.

Some people feel that Ford is better than Chevy, Dodge, Toyota etc. based on one or two particular experiences or their parents experience. It's a vehicle for crying out loud, they all have problems, anybody who believes otherwise is kidding themselves.

BTW I tried to buy an F150 I gave the salesman my name, number, and the VIN # of the truck on the lot I wanted to buy. He chose to wait almost a week to call me about it and by that time I had already bought the Tundra.

I'm certainly not comparing my Tundra to my Lightning, I laugh at the guys that do. My Tundra is a truck, it gets used and abused. The Lightning might get driven hard but pampered in every other way.

Ah, don't mind Terry. He's just grumpy 'cause our "commuter vehicles" can do the type of work that most of us need a truck for.

This was the first time I've towed the dump trailer with the Tundra, and it did surprisingly well. Hydraulic dump trailer with 2 cubic yards of graystone in it, figure a total weight of ballpark 7k lbs. Did it once with the L., and got the beejesus scared out of me, as the trailer was literally pushing the back end of the truck sideways on rain slicked streets. Next time I tried that load I had the SD, and it was no big deal. Today I used the Tundra for the first time, and only had them load 1 cubic yard on the first trip. It went so well that I loaded 2 yards on the second trip, and I'd say the Tundra towed that load as well as the SD did.

That's a shame but you can bet that all the car companies pull crap like that to avoid slowing production down. Just like CEOs making bad decisions to get their bonus some line manager probably would have lost his if he shut production down, even if for quality reasons. Meanwhile, any bad units might take a year to turn up at the shop, long after he got his spiff!:nono:. Welcome to competitive business in America, nobody really cares if the company makes a profit as a whole, they just want their little area to look good so they get theirs!

The Toy is still a good vehicle but not made to take abuse like a SuperDuty or offer the speed of the L. For the half ton crowd it stepped up the power and towing bar. Not a bad thing, it will force the rest of them to step it up too so the Ford/Dodge/Chevy fans will benefit too IMHO.

You must have had a different kind of SuperDuty than I did. I got pretty disgusted by a heavy duty PU that puked coolant, stretched head bolts, and had to have a new long block at under 100k miles. Maybe the 6.4 will be a better motor, but the 6.0 was/is a POS.

I'm a pretty big fan of TRD products. Before purchasing my Lightning a few months back I had a 04' supercharged Tundra, and 3 months before that a 01' Supercharged Tacoma that ran a 9.5 in the 1/8 in Denton. They make solid superchargers and aftermarket products that are bolt and go! Took me 6 hours to install, $1800 for a new supercharger on 95-04 Toyotas, can’t beat that!

I just got back from hauling my 24ft trailer 2000 miles loaded to at least 10K with ATV's and camping gear. We pulled a couple passes over twelve thousand feet and 9% grades through the Rocky Mountains. If you know how thin the air is at altitude you can appreciate the challenge it presents. I would love to see any toy truck try to tackle that task. I see their commercials where they claim they are rated for 10K pull but I don't see it with the wimpy tires, 3 leaf springs etc, light curb weight etc.. They are a weekend project truck like any other half ton tin lizzy. They are not a work truck however;).

I really dont see them doing it well at 12k feet above sea level either:throw:

Glad you made it home safe

Even the V10 super duty guys don't like altitude. Without a turbo cramming extra air in there you have about 60% engine efficiency. The gassers are revving 4500-5K all the way up the passes. Without the grade braking you would smoke your service brakes on the long down runs.
