A little Pam cooking spray goes a long way to reduce the bug and road schmegma
:ron: I made the Miami Denton trip a couple years ago solo after purchasing a truck there
Long trip to say the least

well hopefully now that I am starting my career and no longer will be working part time that I wont do any crazy cross country moves again.
I made the West Palm to Bedford trip a few weeks ago. Not fun, as others have mentioned. 1300 miles, 19 or so hours. Which way did you take? 20 to 49 to 10 to 75? Or 20 to 75? Ugh. I won't make that drive unless I absolutely have to.

I wonder if you where one of the many Texas plates I passed up coming home from Key west. (27 hours straight, 1700 miles)

:rll::rll:Reminds me of my trip from Daytona Beach to Ft, Lauderdale on my Honda CB750F.I was covered with Gorilla snot and my bikes engine was litterally smokin with those damn love bugs,@ least thats what Floridians called those damn things ,cause they where constantly in pairs doing the nasty in the air this time of year.I could see where they would make a mess out of your truck:rll::rll:Ill never forget that ride.I used to live in Daytona Beach for 3 years:bows:bowsGod bless that town and all the fine women:twitch::rll:

those love bugs are the worst you now it is bad when there is a bug washer at rest stops so you can actualy see through your windsheild.

I did spot a red Lightning. But did not see the plates. But then again, I seen more Lightnings in Florida than I ever do here. Besides, after 15 hours of driving on 3 hours of sleep the night before....... My eyes where glued open and straight ahead. And 10 hours later, fire hydrogens kinda resembled Bunny rabbits.

Grew up there, lived there for 20 years. It's gone down the crapper lately(south Florida in general). Orlando may be the cutoff area of wanting to move down there, but I'm gonna stay around here.

the worst part about all of it was when I got home at 5:00am I couldn't fall asleep.
I went to West Palm, Miami, Daytona, Tampa, and some other places while I was there I liked it but it is so expensive and the roaches are the worst.

I've made that drive about 5 times this year so far, getting to know the State Trooper that hangs out on 49 near Opelousas, LA!
Roaches down here aren't so bad, just toss a saddle on em and go for a ride!:rll: If we could make Ethanol from Roaches, FL would be the new Saudi Arabia! Glad you made it safely!

Thats why I just get a room after about 14 hours - because the alternative is to drive at night so tired I cant see straight and then get to the destination completely Wrecked and not be able to sleep cause the sun is up

Not having kids it is hard for me to understand, but an acquaintance of mine used to take off in the early evening, stop off at Olive Garden, get the kids to eat a large pasta dinner. Then their sugar level would drop like a rock and the kids would sleep all night while he was driving from Tennessee to Florida.. he would arrive in the morning with the kids just waking up and didnt have to hear "are we there yet?" all along the way.. he would then just rest up that day and move on.. not sure it would work for you, but just thought I would throw it out there.

I've done the DFW to Winslow, AZ run in one day and then to Vegas. A few days later then to Vicksburg, AZ for further fun and merriment. :evil
