hope this isn't a repost (but it's pretty big so i bet it is) but did you notice that the nhra went to 1000 ft competition for top-fuel and funny car instead of a quarter-mile? i know it only temporary but a good idea considering the recent events. i think if tracks can be updated they may go back to quarter mile runs.

They said they will be running it for the remainder of the season. It actually makes it a tougher race to win by shorting it by 320ft.

its only for the rest of this season while they investigate the entire Scott Kalitta event. There is an expectation that it will return to 1320. but look at all the new records that will be set and might not ever get a chance to be broken.

I think most of the tracks in Arkansas are all 1000'-maybe those good ole boys know something

I think they spend a lot of money on the big end in Motors and this 1000' issue is two fold safety/cash

Seems to me in 2008 would be easy to design a safe oh shit area at the end of the track

Although unfortunate the death earlier this year is the exception not the rule. Lets face it this is a sport with inherent dangers.

1229 is my suggestion.......
